As some of you might know the Volvo club of America?s west coast national meet is coming up soon in mid August. Here is the info on the meet. For more information or registration forms please check out www.vcoa.org, and as always you can post any questions that you have.

NUFAN

2003 VCOA-VSA West Coast National Meet
15 Aug 2003 - 17 Aug 2003
West Coast Olympia Hotel
2300 Evergreen Park Drive
Olympia, Washington 98502

The hotel is set in a park-like setting with trees, overlooking a large
lake, with a swimming pool - just beautiful - conveniently located at the intersection of Interstate 5 (I-5) and Highway 101 in Olympia, about 50 miles south of Seattle. There are also camping facilities nearby for anyone that would prefer that option over the hotel.

We will gather Friday night for a welcome reception to get acquainted, enjoy some great food, and we will have raffles and entertainment. On Saturday, we're arranging to have local outings for the ladies or anyone not wanting to clean cars, and there is a large beer manufacturer to visit within walking distance of the hotel. The car show will be held on the grass on Saturday afternoon, and we are working on having a DJ outside, along with raffles a swap meet, and technical sessions held during the day. Following a cocktail reception Saturday night, we will hold the awards banquet and free after-hours entertainment.

On Sunday morning we are planning a banquet breakfast with more raffles, the announcement of the winner of the picture contest, and an easy driving event, with prizes at the end of the drive, one drive going south and one going north.

The hotel is $75 per night for a single/double room and $85 per night for a triple/quad. These prices are available for three days before and three days after the meet for attendees that would like to make this a true vacation in this beautiful part of the country. These are great prices for this hotel and should not be missed.

The registration fee for the full weekend package is $85 per adult. For those that only wish to attend for Saturday's activities, the price is only $55 per adult, which includes all meals and tech sessions and the concours event. Events only participation - no meals - will cost $25, allowing you to attend all tech sessions and receive a goodie bag. The fees for children age 5 to 10 is $35 for the full weekend, and for children aged 11 to 15, the fee is $50. Anyone over the age of 15 must register as an adult.

A $25-per-person late fee will be charged on registrations received
between July 15th and August 8th. After August 8th, you will only be able to register at the door at the cost of $170 per person for the full weekend package. Saturday only admission at the door after August 8th will be available at a cost of $125. The events only fee remains at $25.

If you wish to attend, you're invited to use our secure online
Registration Form. The form is for event registration only. Please make your hotel reservations directly with the West Coast Olympia Hotel at
866-896-4000. Be sure to mention the Volvo Club to get the special room
rates.

You do not need to be a VCOA member to attend. Your registration fee covers 4 meals, dash plaque etc.

You can register online at www.vcoa.org

Dave,
I will be really excited to see your car in person for the 1st time! I'll prolly use up all of my 128MB memory sticks just taking pics.
As good as your site is, I'm sure seeing the car in person does it true justice.
I doubt I'll have my '85 245Ti with B23FT up and running by then; I've got too many other projects to finish. *sniff*

Drive safely, stop often, and keep the rubber side down.

Take care,
JD

Looks like you can count Justin, Noah, Ryan and I in one car [Justin's 745] for the long trip up!

It's cool to see you're coming too Dave! The GT front end you sold me [well, just the grille+lights] looks great BTW, especially w/new paint!!

It was $85 for all events on all three days, until the 15th of July. Now it's $170 at the door to get in. I think the hotel was about $85 a night for booking? I dunno. My folks live near Oly, so I've got a place to stay

I'm broke, but I'm going to try and stop by, check out everybody's cars (you can laugh at mine) and say hello. Very stoked to see Dave and Doug's cars in person.

Wow $170 - is that a single price or is there a break down of events what have you - not really interested in doing a ton of events just wanted a chance to say hi to pat dave doug et al.

Think I'll get a room get drunk at fish brewing all day and meet you cats in the lounge.

JB

_____________

OK just checked the prior posts, so $25 bucks is cool for all events but I gotta get fed and drunk on my own dime is that the deal (+room)?

You guys should have a look at the registration form. https://ssl20.pair.com/volvo/form9.html
It does not cost $170 for the event unless you register for the full event at the door on Friday the 15th or later. If you register in advance (today is still "in advance") you will only need to pay a $25 late fee (for any registration after 7/15). You still have the option of registering for the full event for $85 (plus $25) or just the Saturday events plus meals for $55 (plus $25), or you may show up at the door and simply pay $25 to enter a car only (no late fee for that). The late fee is there to encourage advanced registration because last minute additions end up costing VCOA lots of bucks from the hotel when they are forced to add tables or upgrade to larger banquet rooms.

OK still unclear and looking at the site and the registration hasn't really give me the info I need.

So if I don't want to register a car, don't want to run the car in the event, but want to hang around for purposes of spiritual invigoration, food and drink, incense, nude mud bath, and burning man festival in my private room Friday night thru Sunday AM what needs to be done besides making hotel reservations?

"what needs to be done besides making hotel reservations? "

Send in the registration form ASAP with $85 plus $25 late fee.
Registering a car is optional, but if you don't register a car, the price is the same for a full package with mud bath.

The burning man festival is the next weekend.

OK. So I am a little lost on all this price stuff!
I live a 1/2 mile from the hotel. All I want to do is look at the nice cars, Walk thrue the swap meet, and maybe sit in on a class or what ever on Saturday. Is that $25 to hang out for a few hours on Saturday?

All three of my cars a a mess in the works.

The outside portion of the event is open to the public as far as I know, if it's like the past meets. So if you want to come and look at cars and hang out, that's free and I'm sure you'll be welcome. Registering and paying $25 gets you the goodie bags full of free samples and admittance to any other activities, such as tech sessions. I suspect it was probably instituted with a car entry in mind.

It's not like anyone's profiting from the fees. It goes to cover the costs for putting the whole event on, which is all fronted by VCOA in the hopes they'll come out even in the end. Even tech sessions cost money since VCOA is paying for the banquet room space from the hotel.

With all the money you're saving over someone like me, I bet you could afford the $25. Then again I know a few Volvo owners who are so cheap you couldn't dislodge a nickle from their a$$ with dynamite.
