I thought I might share from experience that the Cherry Turbo's upper brace will not fit flathood 240's. I ordered mine from IPD and they had nothing on the website stating this. Eurosport tuning has nothing on there website about it not fitting flathoods either. The only place I found the note was on the Cherry Turbo's home page.
I was able to make it fit by cutting some of the under hood bracing out of my car. :uhm: It is still a very snug fit though. If you plan to use an upper Strut to Strut brace on a Flathood, verify that it will fit before you buy...

Cherry Turbos will make a brace to fit the flathood, but that's no excuse for IPD/EST not mentioning it. I've seen a flathood with the standard brace from IPD, and the hood support was cut in at least 3 spots. Two cuts about 1" apart, then bent it back towards the hood for each spot the hood hit the brace, and it seemed to fit OK after that.

Good to know! I've been leaning toward the Steve Bucina brace (works with any hood and probably any intake) but I'm waiting to see a pic of the weezilboy's setup.

This style brace clears my flathood w/ out any problems.

I prefer the Cherry Turbos brace over the other braces because it's made of steel with no moving joints, and the fit on my 240 was PERFECT. This was after I struggled to put an OMP brace on my car, only to have it rub the throttle wheel and go right over the oil fill cap. There was another reason having to do with where the brace is located (over the top vs. out in front) as to how it distributes load to the strut towers, but you'll have to contact Herman @Cherry Turbos because he explained it once and I don't remember.

I don't mean to knock Herman's design - I think it's pretty good, but I have concerns about weight with all that steel, and I want to see what weezil comes up with for a lo-cost design.

I have the Bucina brace, and have for almost a year. I converted my wagon to a flathood and it fits just fine. I like the fact that there are adjustments and moving parts on this brace, it makes it a little more fine tuned, in my opinion. That and it was cheap.

Oh Yeah, forgot to mention something else... Don't get torque happy with the strut mount bolts, they break pretty easy... (insert embarassing story here)

I was surprised when installing the Cherry Turbos brace that it fit perfectly. Putting on my OMP brace, with 3 points of adjustment, was not so simple. Offset from center was a threaded rod with two nuts, which allows for length adjustment, and then the nuts are used to hold it tightly in place. The only problem is that with the nuts turned all the way down, I still couldn't get the brace short enough to fit, so I had to take it apart, remove the nuts, and put it back together.

I've seen all the designs and and used two of them, and the CT brace is my favorite. I don't mind giving up a few extra pounds for an increase in rigidity.
