Default wide band O2 sensor controller/gauge/output - what to buy

I want a wideband O2 sensor and some type of readout/gauge to monitor mixture. I have read about a build it yourself kit but can't find it.

If the wideband sensor outputs a certain voltage for a certain mixture couldn't I just use a digital multimeter to monitor the mixture?

www.wbo2.com - I have the ready built kit though. Very happy with the meter.

i love my lc1, i have had zero problems, you can change the outputs to whatever your gauge needs, you can have a liner 1-0v to use w/ a nb02 gauge but since it is linear it is much more usefull

The Tech Edge kit is a big assembly job; be sure you know what you're getting into beforehand.

The gauge component is not that expensive and is nice to have.

If you're running MS or other EMS, though, it may not be necessary... depends on how much you want to monitor AFR after you're done tuning.

Either way, I've been running my TE kit for two years and change, and it's been dynamite. I ran for many months without the gauge and didn't really miss it.

Innovate now offers a $200 RTR wideband setup that looks pretty good. I have a Techedge unit but I would have bought this instead had it been available at the time.

I love my Tech Edge. I've got the display too, and like Kyle for a few months I was running without the WB (cause it was in my brothers car) and I didn't really miss it, but when I put it back in MAN did I ever love it again. I've been running mine nonstop for nearly two years now and haven't had a single problem. Building it yourself IS quite a task, since it has about 4x as many parts as a megasquirt board, but I had a good time doing it. And at the time when I bought it worked out to be only $230 for the DIY WB, display, and sensor.

Though if you don't want the display and have MS, the $200 innovate one sounds schweet. And no you can't just get a $30 WB02 sensor and monitor the mixture with a multimeter, these sensors need to be heated to an exact certain temperature and kept there all the time. I think the heater part takes up most of the board and the signal decoder is much simpler.

I love my techedge too, it's just the DIY part of it that was a drag. I've had some harness problems with it that i've had to fix, but since that it has worked perfectly.

I bought the Innovate LC-1 and the XD-1 52mm gauge. Pricey, but very damn nice!

cheers

I run a PLX M300 wideband, and I'm very happy with it. The plastic box that has the display and that controls the o2 sensor feels a little cheap (I just opened it up took out the guts and mounted them in a small brushed aluminum box) but it has both wideband (0 - 5) and narrowband outputs. Just remove your stock o2 and replaced it with the wideband and feed lh2.2 the narrowband output. If the box bothers you plx also sells a 2 1/4 " gauge that runs off the wideband output (looks a lot like the AEM widband) and then you can hide the box.

I just finished soldering up my TE 2A0 and cable kit about 10 minutes ago. It took me about... forever. It wasn't hard per se, just a whole crap load of components... John's 2nd pic says it all. Surprisingly, I had the hardest time with the cable... hopefully will have it running tomorrow.

Did you guys who have the TE go through the 17 page debugging procedure? didja find any booboos?

I'm having a beer.

Mike

No I didn't debug mine, but I did end up having ONE resistor in the wrong place. It was a really high ohm resistor when it was supposed to be a really low one, took me weeks before I finally broke down and went to each one with a multimeter and found the culprit. It was obvious that something was wrong though because it would only read between 14.5-14.9.

I've got an Innovate LM-1 with the XD-1 gauge. Great for monitoring AFR on the fly and logging your AFRs, as well as RPM and boost levels!
