Not sure if this is the right place for this but here goes; remember the Tricolor, that big cargo vessel that sunk in the English Channel a while ago? It was loaded with new Volvo's among other vehicles. Check this out, it's pretty amazing;

yeah, it was filled with Volvo, Saabs, and BMWs i believe.
It Sank a few months ago didnt it? like 6 months ago.
Yeah, its a shame those volvos wont be in some lady's driveway waiting to be loaded up with kids for a soccer match. i think i saw like 10 XC90s in that piece of the ship....heh, screw the saabs and Bmers. good thig they resurected the volvos.

A belgian junkyard (in iron) has bought the ship, and the cars. For the the cars he paid 1 euro a piece, a symbolic euro they said in the newspaper. I tried to go the the harbour were its cutted into pieces of only 300ton. But no people were allowed anymore, cause with the dismantling works a fire started because a guy with his cutting flame thing had aimed to hard on a car, tires and car went up in flames.

It was in the paper today that all the cars will be melted down.

But i think the alloys and tires should at least be saved.

i think that they should make a park where all the volvos will be displayed as a memorial.

Maybe its just the fever talking

The NY Times article said every last bolt and wheel will be shredded for scrap. BMW in particular has insisted that not even a bolt be reused in fear of liability.

The carnage makes me sick. If I couldn't use one of the engines for it's intended purpose, I could make a ton of cool furniture!

I can understand how alot of the parts on the cars would be unuseable again, but things as simple as alloy wheels? Or even some other odd and end pieces? What a waste.

The carmaker's don't want to take the time to salvage stuff, and they sure don't want other people making money of this, so it all gets melted down.
