Rear seal leaking + clutch dust = gunk?

or perhaps your car has created a new lifeform?

Yeah 2nd that, lots of gunk and a pressure washer cleans it back to new.

that is the colour, I guess considering the history that this engine has had where containing its oil is concerned I shouldnt be surprised really.

I got loads of gunk in the bellhousing of my M90. On mine it is because the dual mass flywheel is busted, and sillicone? from the damping unit between the two masses was thrown all over the place... If you have a dual mass flywheel, check if you can rotate the clutchassembly part relative to the part fixed top the flywheel. On mine there are considerable play.

350NM (about 260lb/ft i think?) was around what the Dirtwagon was making back when it was running right, so v240tic may well be right.

For me it only took 135hp (komfortwagon anyone...) + a steep hill + a 2000lbs trailer. M46 flywheel + TD clutch next....

Something I posted in another thread a while back:

Quote:
Now to the modifications to make the M90 and clutch setup take some power:
The setup mentioned below is not the standard size that the M90 would use with the dual-mass flywheel, but it is simpler, stronger and easier to come by.

1. A "flat" flywheel from a 91-94 LH2.4 940 Turbo. Preferrably lightened (and it is easy and cheap to get lightened), but not nessecary.

2. Clutch disc 850GLT, 20 splines, 228mm, Sachs p/n: 1862 314 032

3. Pressure plate, strengthened, 228mm, Sachs p/n: 3082 999 763

This setup is recommended and has proven to hold 440NM of torque (stated by ENEM and KGTrimning). A very good setup that will still give you a very good, tight clutch feeling and it will still maintain stock driveability.

The clutch and pressure plate can be found in this webshop: http://213.136.58.58/butiken/?butikid=00446
A "flat" flywheel as stated in point #1 should of course be a dish flywheel. The one I saw was virtually flat because of all the lightening/machining done to it .

Does this look familiar???

Decided it was time to swap the busted dualmass flywheel today.

Gunk probably comes from the busted damper unit between the two parts of the flywheel.

Nicked a LH 2.4 M4X flywheel from an engine standing outside a local garage.

Was a little bit rusty on the contact surface, but came out nice with a little work with a steelbrush on the anglegrinder.

Had a clutchdisc and pressureplate for M90 + M4x flywheel lying around. Source unknown.

From the volvo pn, the disc appears to be a standard 240/740 turbo disc??? The center has M90 splines though. Probably some custom job... The pressure plate appears to be a LUK unit. According to my left foot, it appears to be a strengthened unit, I can feel the muscles in my foot growing by the mile
