Thumbs up 960 AMM upgrade info

Hey all,

I was trying to research the details of this upgrade before the board went buh-bye. I have found some good information that I wanted to share, and I figured we may as well put all the related info in this thread so it's all in one place in case others are searching for the info as well.

I work at Volvo so I started out by researching some part numbers.

So far, here's what I know as far as AMM part numbers:

1992-1994 960
Volvo 3517569, supercedes to 8602793
Bosch 0 280 213 012

1995 960
Volvo 1271861, supercedes to 8602794
Bosch 0 986 280 014; 0 280 213 025

1996-1997 960; 1996-1998 S90
Volvo 9146483
Bosch 0 280 517 511

Now...from what I've gathered, the only one that works as a direct replacement for the 740/940 series cars is the early (1992-1994) 960 AMM, Bosch number ending in 012.

What I'm trying to find out and add to this thread are:
1) Are we sure that's the only one out of the series that works?
2) What's different about this AMM compared to the stock 740/940, and compared to the later year AMM on the 960's?

Any info is appreciated. I want to take all of the guesswork out of this. Thanks!

025 works for some, it worked for me for about 36 hours and then i changed injectors and it stopped working .. never worked again.

otherwise most here have 012's running just fine

$$$ = Friday. ;)

Is it a direct swap, no modifications necessary?

Also, what's different about it anyway? Why is it an upgrade?

well larger than stock means more air flow .. so less restriction, and it throws off the timing and fuel maps, so you need @ least 38-42lb injectors for it to work even close to right i think. main point of it is that is rasies the fuel cutout point a little, along with having the larger 3" in/out allows for more flow than the stock 2.5 one
