All of a sudden after filling the washer reservior up, the next day the water was just gone (washer fluid light is on). I can't see it pouring out while backing out of the driveway and the leakage is not obvious.
I filled it up again thinking maybe I just filled it too quickly or something and a lot of it overflowed out or something. The next morning the light is one again. There seems to be some water in there but a lot has leaked out, enough to trigger the light. Strangely, after parking it for the day there seemed to be water trickling out of the rear of the wagon from underneath, maybe from a drain or something. Last night I got underneath and tried to remove the whole reservior so I can inspect it for cracks and make sure the pump was seated properly. I couldn't really get it out. I removed the nut and the bolt that appeared to be mounting it. I started to pull out but seemed stuck so I'm assuming there is another attachment or some trick to getting it out. It was dark so that may have been part of the problem. I checked all of the hoses and felt the hoses at the pump at the reservior, no water seemed to be leaking out that I could tell even after filling. None of the hoses are cracked. I even cut off all the hose ends and reattached them thinking they'd attach a bit tighter. After filling up last night this morning, the light is back on. Seems like I really need to pull this thing out to inspect everything but I'm having difficulty getting it out. I'd just like to fix it so I don't have to see that annoying low washer fluid light or end up having to pull it. Can anyone tell me exactly how to remove this damn thing so I can figure this out or does anyone know of any common areas of leakage for the washer fluid or lines? Thanks!

right, thanks, that's what I figured . . . .
Still need some info on getting the washer reservior out so I can inspect it for leaks and get better access to a couple of the hoses. Like I said I removed the nut and bolt that appears to be mounting it and it won't pull down all the way. Hopefully someone that's removed one from an 850 can chime in. Thanks . . . . |

Think I figured part of it out, the rear plastic hose was disconnected from the rubber fitting for some reason near the tailgate. Still not sure this was the cause, but I'm going to top it off and see. Wouldn't the pump have to be activated for water to leak out the rear hose?
The rear carpet on the same side behind the front seats is also very damp. Hope there isn't some kind of break in that plastic hose causing that leak. I'm thinking it's something different and I'm going to also check and clear the sunroom drains. If I still need help I'll reply, thanks . . . . |
