North Bay is a neat town. I drove from Cleveland, Ohio to Radisson, Quebec for "vacation" in January of '03 and North Bay was my first stop. Spent the night and checked out the town a little. Northern Canada is a great place to drive....and drive...and drive...lol. I love your project pics! That has got to be so hard to not get to drive it for that long. Looks really nice...what are the plans for the interior (dash, seats etc.)?

I'm using the stock GT interior (corduroy = old skool kool) and I have special plans for the dash.

Hey thanks. honestly though, I'm constantly resisting the urge to just slam it together and lay down a big patch all the way down my road

Damn man. I so badly wish I had a place and the funding to complete and do up my GT correctly. Looks like a hell of a lot of fun! Congrats man!

Best of luck on completing your restoration!!

A little bit of progress

Rust repair on the front cowl section below the windshield

Fresh metal slightly thicker than factory (to help rigidity with braces)

Rust repair and a little reinforcing on the lower a pillar

Then painted like the floor

Then a quick clean and paint job on the steering rack

I did scrape some of it off (trunk, rear foot wells and wherever it interfered with the stitch welding) but I'm gonna leave the rest because this is going to be a streetcar and the tar paper does serve a good function. If I were going for extreme light weight then I would do that as well as many other things. otherwise it would do nothing but make it louder. I weighed it at 3008 lbs when it was last on the road 3 years ago.

Keep up the great work man!

Did you by chance weigh the car before you disassembled it? I'm really curious as to how much weight you're adding with all the bracing, seam welding and what I assume is going to be a decent chunk of sound deadening. Should be that much more like all the modern cars they're making now! Lots of stiff body, along with lots of sound deadining... Should be very comfortable.

Looking really good champ. One of the few quality builds on the board. Great work.
Also, why do all your control arms look rough? is that pitting from rust, or from sand blasting?
