Default Bilstein TCs??

Alright, I'm starting to sort out my suspension, and I'm looking for something a bit sportier, not overly expensive, and quality built.

Any opinions?

I've not heard great things about the Bilstein TC's, but I'm sure if you do some searching around the site you could pull up some decent feedback...
I've run both the Boge Turbo Gas shocks, and the Bilstein HD's on my wagon. Boge's were good budget "OEM" replacements, but were way to floaty for me, and offered no rebound control what so ever with my lowered suspension.
The HD's however have been great, sometimes maybe a bit stiff on the bumpier roads, but they do handle really nicely over uneven pavement, and they soak up the studder's relatively well. They have been a great partner to the lowering springs, and price is what it is. There are deals around to be had on the HD's if you look around. I ordered mine from www.shox.com a few years back, and it was the best price.

Good luck!

Default affordable shocks

I've used both the Boge Turbo Gas and the Bilstein TC. The Bilstein is just a bit stiffer than the Boge turbo gas. I liked the TC much better and they were a good shock upgrade for a mostly stock suspension.

They are not in the class that the Bilstein HD and the Koni yellow shocks are.

Spend the extra on Billy HD's, the difference is night and day.

I have some TC's matched up with EST springs in my 240. They aren't too bad, but if you can try to find someone who is running them or a different type of damper so you can see what you like. I wish I had gone through and just got the HD's as I feel the TC's are worked too hard with the stiffer springs. It all depends on ride quality vs. handling.

i tried the bilstien TC on my 145. they were on for less than a week. they weren't even a good upgrade over the 20 year old gabriels. i would rather run kyb gas-a-junks before i would try TC again. go with the HD's, decarbon's or koni's.

currently having both new TCs and new HDs on two different cars,

spend the extra cash on HDs.

Default Bad TC's

I had to rip out the rear TC's on the 740 wagon. Could never get rid of the clunk the shocks made. I went all HD's and after a few months of use they are now perfect. Initially they are a bit stiff, and small bumps are jarring. With the IPD bars the car is like a fine touring car now.
