As to the story, I happened to be reading my local freebie paper for once, and I spied that my local auction house (yep them places before ebay came along) were doing a sale on behalf of the liquidators of a Fiat Garage in the next town 20miles away.

Now i happened to know that this Fiat garage used to be a Volvo dealer up until the late 90's, as I used to live half a mile up the road from it back in the early 80's, and had to walk past it everyday with mum on the way to School or the Emergency room at the Hospital which was opposite it for the many occasions i split my head open.

So i decided to attend the sale in the hope of finding some elusive retro parts, alas an employee had taken what little volvo stock was left home with him one night, however i have his number so will be going to look what he's got at a later date.

But one of the auction lots (number 29) was 3 metal shelf racks, which had all the books on them, plus a box i later found out had 2 Early ECU Testers plus volvo test gear for LH2.4 and later stuff.

There was a bit of a bidding war on this, which was strange as most people there were interested in the garage equipment like ramps etc. So with whom i was bidding against i don't know, as my technique is not to look at the opponent and just bid fast and quick to discourage them.

It worked and i won the auction. I then spent the next hour or two or so loading my booty into the boot.

This killed plenty of time waiting for lot no 236 to come up, a quantity of volvo special tools, Again a bidding war took place that went something like this.

I opened the bidding, someone bid, i bid again and the other person gave up.

All in all pretty successful, i hadnt intended on buying either items but i could'nt resist and i couldn't bare to see them scrapped. The guy i bid against for the tools told me afterwards he only fancied one tool there to use on another make of car completly and would have weighed the rest in for scrap metal.

As for price, I couldn't possibly say, it was more than i expected to pay.

I'll tell you this though the manuals cost 5 times more than the tools did.

Now i just need to find a large wall to hang them all up, as i have no space for them.

My kitchen now reminds me of them coffeshop's with books in them to read to pass the time.

This morning over a cup of cha, i had a read up on the B204GT engine.
