Default lowering springs-940

looking to find the best bang for my buck. im looking to buy lowering springs for my 940 now, and i dont know which springs to get. ipd sport springs, euro sport, intrax? are there others that are better? i want to get the lowest ride for the best price. (please dont suggest cutting the springs, id rather not take the risk of an un-even ride and not take the ghetto way out)

get coilovers, springs + shocks are nice, but they make the car looks stock.

Sadly yes...it should've looked that way stock. Regardless it dosn't look modified unless it's sitting next to a stock car.

if you want to go that low, you'll need to cut some lowering springs or get coilovers. coilovers will run you $1200+ with camber plates and good dampers, so plan on that if that's how youre gonna go

for the love of god man, please search. this is beaten to death weekly. yes, b+g makes springs. skandix sells them, fcp groton sells them, etc. they are about $239

low doesn't mean good either. i know you personally have a tendency toward form over function, but b+g seems to offer the best ride and handling compared with the best drop. if they aren't low enough, cut them yourself until you reach your desired height.

whenever you take the suspension out, it's a good idea to inspect your strut mounts and bearings for wear. replace them if they are in bad shape. don't buy scan tech mounts! also, check balljoints, bushings, and shocks.

for strut bars, you could wait till bne is done making his (we gotta get one mocked up and test fitted first) or buy ipd/cherry turbos, or get in on the next SAM group buy and buy one of theirs. a lower chassis brace, like cherry turbos' or the volvo OEM lower make a bigger difference at first, though. once you have the lower on, the upper makes the next biggest difference in terms of chassis stiffness, imo

i would personally never be caught dead running anything but bilstein HDs or Konis (or better) with any type of non-stock spring. running crappy dampers is just not smart, in the long run, especially since bils are lifetime warranted and rebuildable.

like someone said, unless you parked beside a real stock one, to 99.9999% population, that looks very stock.

hmm....
Its a volvo wagon
unless its on fire 99% of the population wont care what it looks like and will think its stock

I have the B&G's, which set me back $210 delivered to my door from skandix
the car sits about 1/2" higher than most because of the high pressure bilstein shocks
if you went with the koni or most any other shock it would sit another 1/2" lower

so it seems b+g would be the best springs for the best lower/price? anyone ever used intrax springs? they claim a 2.5 inch drop for about $240.

Default Old style IPD

Find some old style IPD springs and combine with billy's and they will give you a 2.5 inch drop with no cutting with 205/55/16's.

I have Intrax with Koni's on my 88 745t. The stance is good but the front seems to be a tad high. I may cut it down to level the stance out. Overall the ride is nice compared to my other wagon which has cut down IPD springs and Billy's. The stance looks much more aggressive on the cut down IPD's than the Intrax IMHO.

i dont want to have to do any cutting, especially since im a noob and i cant do that myself. i love the plug and play kind of applications. so intrax would be a no go? and what are "old style" ipd springs? those arent the ipd sport springs?
so basically all ive learned is:
Billys=bilstein
intrax-front doesnt look even
coilovers=looks stock

dude, if you can replace springs you can certainly get cutting tool and cut the fawkin' things. Really not that hard :-p

Replacing springs, on the other hand, is a bit annoying (tho pretty easy)

coilovers do not look stock, but to set them up properly doing none of the fab work yourself, will run you about $1200 or more, including dampers to work with them, and camber plates.

just do B+G...

Ive got a set of bilstein hds and b+gs hanging around in my basement, along with a set of poly bushings from dale--all set to go on a 1991 944t. Im using the guide in the article forum for reference (minus the brake work done), but nonetheless ill take some pictures. Im excited for how it will all turn out.

just do b+g? so get b+g lowering springs? how much do they claim to lower? are "bilstein hds" shocks? do new shocks/struts help with the lowering at all? yes, im more of a form over function sort of guy, and i would be nervous spending $250 on springs and then risk effing them up by cutting them.
