Default b230 in a 140?

has anyone ever swapped a newer style b21, or b23/b230 into a 140 series car? i have a very solid 74 144, but the old b20 is totally done, and the old bw35 just wont cut it anymore. any information or publications on this swap?
thanks.

What are you planning for a gearbox? Are you going with a stick or keeping it an auto?

Of course they have.

Do a search. Here, and most importantly, on the Brickboard.

Yeah there are many. I recall (GtJordan can correct me) that someone once even sold some mounts pre-made. Only problem I can see is wanting an overdrive tranny in a non-remote shift car but you shouldn't have that problem considering the year of yours. Give 'er

Theres some, i know there was a project build someone did once (most likely before we had a forum just for that). I dont recall exactly but i believe everything was straight forward however the firewall needed to be cut to fit the head mounted distributor? simple fix would be to use a block mounted one

i would perfer to use a manual.either a m46, or perhaps even a borg warner t-5 from a 5.0 litre mustang. i see there is a company on the east coast that makes a adapter plate to do this.

In the search section... And mainly the 140 section, but the 120 section has some swap information as well.

I can get you motor mounts/brackets to mount a b21/23/230 into a 142 so it will bolt up to the stock tranny.

Have you sold them to the OVTers who were looking some?

do you make these yourself from scratch, or modify the factory mounts?

If you mount the b21/23/230 upright you can use the b20 bellhousing and use an m40/41, or get an adapter plate and use a T5.

I'm told, by someone who did it, that if you put an OHC redblock in place of an OHV one, you not only change the mounts but you change the oil-pan & oil-pump (the OHV ones are a bolt-in fit to the OHC engine). Then you just use the original OHV gearbox - assuming it's strong enough, if you're turbocharging you may need to go more customised than that.
