Look into a Pertronix kit to get rid of those points. A friend told me once you can gap the points with a dime if they get out of adjustment on the road.

Can you cut off the fuel to the carb? If so pull the plugs and crank it and let it air out, go buy some new plugs for$12usd or $30cad and gap them correctly then try it again.

They should have put it together with assembly lube but if it makes you feel better I would disable or unplug the fuel injectors not the distributor and crank it until the oil pressure light goes out.

I pulled the Volvo axle and replaced it with a Ford 8.8 on my back in the driveway, you only need 2 jack stands. And a floor jack to lift it into place. The biggest PITA is the parking brake cables.

I don't know about PVC systems but in PCV system excess crankcase pressure gets vented to the airbox to turbo pipe, that dirty air goes through the turbo.
