rear girling calipers, different pistons?

volvo 244, 1982: I have 1 left and 1 right rear girling brake caliper. I JUST noticed the pistons are a different style. Does anybody have any insight if these can be used in parallel or if one side...

do unweighted overload springs affect handling?

I have heard some anecdotal reports that having unweighted IPD rear overload springs in a 240 can affect grip substantially...is there any truth to this?
