I would check the "top hat" on the turbo ... unless there isn't a turbo, which would be bad.
A split diaphragm in the re-circ valve would definitely cause your symptoms.

Crank position sensor is a right bugger and can look good but be faulty.
Cheap enough to replace with a known good one.
Also ... as always with LH2.4 ... the fuel pump relay in the relay tray.

If it is craccked the natural flexing from left, right, braking can make it fail at wierd times.

I still love that paintjob and how it was done.
There's a LOT of exhaust manifold stuff leading to the turbo but it gets there so that's a proper job.
