8v turbo exhaust manifold seems fine in my experience. The B230F intake manifold is a turd. Definitely worth making the KL racing intake manifold work over a stock 16v if those are your sole options....

I have run Reinz, Mahle, and Elring without issues in my turbo cars. Elring is the best one to use now, as they have added some urethane seals for coolant.

Compare the angle of the throat of the port relative to the mating flange to that of the runners on the manifold. My guess is that there is s sharp turn that does not exist in the other combination.
