Last time we did this, I bought a LOT of oil. 30-40 qts. Don't worry about it going bad on the shelf. It will be fine. Yes, you can use this weight oil in your car. I have had no issues with it.

The IPD kit is just the stock replacement stuff from the later models, right? I have a 1991, and I have no trouble getting to the flame trap. It's right on top.

With a reman cheapie from a parts store? Could still be the problem. I've gone through 3 so far. Also check the bushings in the mounts. When they fail the belts slip.

Before you jump on the wiring, check to see if the bulb holders are making solid contact with the metal strips on the housings. The tend to get hot, warp, and fail.

Sounds like the time has come to add a little LS swap to your life. Remember that these cars were built with LS swaps in mind. Those tricky Swedes had a crystal ball in the 70's.

The alternators I have bought had the correct pulley. If not, that is a service that Advance Auto is supposed to do at no cost. Swapping the pulley is supposed to be part of the deal.
