We need more BEIGE, 83 242

Most people don't use or know about them, but they have saved me a ton of injuries. Good to over 800 deg F, and designed to prevent slices from glass or whatever. Really nice to have for working on a hot engine!

So many scars could have been avoided if only I had known

You'd think this would be a good wake-up call to buy better tools but I'm still asleep, swung by harbor freight again after picking up the anti-inflammatory they prescribed.
I have on the other hand learned that using the correct size tool is a smart idea, and will be bringing a jacket tomorrow.

Never heard of Kevlar sleeves before but I'll defiantly get some

Even with better tools [B+ string] sometimes the little voice / parts say no and you have to move on without that pick and or return later with heavier artillery.

I packed twice as many tools for tomorrow.

I'd bring a jack but PnP doesn't let you for safety reasons. Funny thing is if I had had a jack I wouldn't have needed to remove that specific bolt.
Wounder if that would work as an excuse?...

IDK find one in the 'secret' compartment of a 740?

'Find' one in the thrift shop and take it in the back with you?

Pry it up with an exhaust pipe and a pile of tires?

Hook it with the engine gantry crane?

Throw it over the fence twice?

Just buy snap on ratchets and extensions. The rest you can use whatever.

Or this one isn't bad for the money has some more leverage when you need it and does 3/8 + 1/4.

And a buck under TBudget™.

1/4 In. X 3/8 In. Dual Drive Extendable Ratchet $13.99

I told you drop the engine and trans

I told you drop the engine and trans

I did, this is how I left it Friday, and how it was when I got back Sunday morning

<a href="https://ibb.co/CVMtknQ"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/GCtJKVR/20200314-102032.jpg" alt="20200314-102032" border="0"></a>

Finally got the transmission off without losing any more blood, until I broke a T40 torx bit on the pressure plate, no stitches but I'll have another nice scar from this damn car

<a href="https://ibb.co/0c0gBDs"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/HVcWNFh/20200314-112454.jpg" alt="20200314-112454" border="0"></a>

Dropped a 960 transmission for the bell housing, and snagged the coolant distribution pipe, along with throttle body and a spare MAF for the wagon

<a href="https://ibb.co/RQxJ8wT"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/0Ygz5by/20200314-141727.jpg" alt="20200314-141727" border="0"></a>
<a href="https://ibb.co/XCngxR6"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/DRByf2m/DSC-0027.jpg" alt="DSC-0027" border="0"></a>

Then took off from the Pnp to drive down and slag this flat hood, looking quite good compared to the overbite.

Just need the T5 gearbox and a few more things to come in the mail for the white block swap. With classes cancelled until April 27th I'm gonna try to get it done quick.

Whiteblock now runs on the subframe, gotta make the harness for COP and try to figure out the issue I'm having with flashing ECUs

Video is quiet and then loud, keep volume low

Spent both Saturday and today at a few picknpulls, ended with a whole bunch of stuff I was looking for and a few things I didn't know I needed

Lowish miles t5 transmission (131K, clean fluid coming out), tach/small clock, some rear trim for the 242, for my wagon the IPD adjustable bits, low miles (71K!) 530 head, b21f intake, snagged a Efan for my buddy because his **** is bunk
<a href="https://ibb.co/GvYXzYK"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/VWndfn7/DSC-0052.jpg" alt="DSC-0052" border="0"></a>

First to go in was the tach and clock, should make the 242 a lot more drivable for my gf (just learning to drive stick, needs a tach)
<a href="https://ibb.co/7j7Z0P1"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/hLp4Tbm/DSC-0054.jpg" alt="DSC-0054" border="0"></a>
<a href="https://ibb.co/zQXdffF"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/HBtZggC/DSC-0063.jpg" alt="DSC-0063" border="0"></a>

Then rear shelf trim, old brown stuff has become powderized, black trim seems to last a lot longer so on it went. On the fence about installing 850 rear speakers
<a href="https://ibb.co/T1cBKhp"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/nBrs3kZ/DSC-0065.jpg" alt="DSC-0065" border="0"></a>
<a href="https://ibb.co/Z1Scb7C"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/7NQr0LF/DSC-0066.jpg" alt="DSC-0066" border="0"></a>

Also finally got around to replacing the torn up seatbelt
<a href="https://ibb.co/y5vp2gH"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/gwqdYtk/DSC-0068.jpg" alt="DSC-0068" border="0"></a>
<a href="https://ibb.co/mBkrBNF"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/z5pW56H/DSC-0069.jpg" alt="DSC-0069" border="0"></a>

And the tailight that's been missing since washing the car, is it just me or has everyone lost there 5 panel passenger reverse light
<a href="https://ibb.co/NTbB93Y"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/vXRn3Bz/DSC-0070.jpg" alt="DSC-0070" border="0"></a>
<a href="https://ibb.co/rfBtmp0"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/vvNBHdq/DSC-0071.jpg" alt="DSC-0071" border="0"></a>

530 head will be ported, get the 46/38 valves, beehive springs and ported b21f intake before going in the wagon. May end up making the intake look pretty after seeing Vol240vo's intake all shined up
<a href="https://ibb.co/Syb381p"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/qjKrf4w/DSC-0079.jpg" alt="DSC-0079" border="0"></a>

Good snags! What's the t5 from?

Late model V6 mustang unit, has the WC intermediate shaft bearing so I'm hoping its got a 300ftlb torque rating. Gotta swap the input shaft but I already have the 5.0 one

Got it in the Fairfield Pnp, Rancho and Sac already had them all swooped.

nice! I'll bribe ya to come put it in my 242 :)

More boxes arrived, southbend clutch disc, a straight copy of 940 16 valve's disc
<a href="https://ibb.co/2cLJL5z"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/vLr9rDN/DSC-0084.jpg" alt="DSC-0084" border="0"></a>

Along with the small clutch box was a MUCH larger box, containing a pre-welded oil pan from a guy on sweedspeed who was hoping to do the conversion before getting his car crushed by a tree. Phone number wonderfully censored by Siena (aforementioned GF)

Last piece of the swap (before I get nickled and dimed on little **** I forgot) came in recently. Whiteblock to 5t adapter, input shaft bearing (one of the things I forgot) driveshaft and 850r clutch kit for the pressure plate, anyone want the disc?
<a href="https://ibb.co/KzNqSM1"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/G3s2NKh/20200325-220021.jpg" alt="20200325-220021" border="0"></a>

Pounded the bearing on with the help of a freezer, shimmed the input shaft and bolted up the adapter/bellhousing

In the process I figured out my 96 850 block is missing mounting bosses for 960 motor mounts. Time to get better at welding

An 850 block doesn't have the bosses? That's bizarre.

Bizarre indeed. 96 b534t5. Should be to the left of the axle bearing mount holes correct?
