Default RTV Silicone instead of trans pan gasket?

When I bought parts for our Mazda 6 trans service, the Mazda parts guy gave me a tube of Mazda gray RTV sealant in place of a trans pan gasket. The car has been fine.

Now I need to seal another auto trans pan and have Toyota gray RTF sealant on hand P/N 00295-01281, specced for engine and trans sealing although it doesn't actually say auto trans.

While on another forum I saw where a guy there said to never use any form-in-place silicone product as it will interact with the trans fluid, pieces break off, etc.

What say you guys?
