Car audio builds

I like the lowest of the lows btw I have destroyed cars with a few builds. Had one car tear the roof panel right at the sunroof. From then on I decided I wasn’t going to get crazy in a sunroof car again

Couple quick pics I grabbed today. Cleaned everything up and getting ready to build the amp/battery rack tomorrow

More work done. Now to work on some bigger subs. Sorry for the pics being small and out of order. Need to find a better hosting site

I have put many systems together in my days and while you would usually get better performance with facing the whole deal towards the rear I have had great success with running larger/ larger amounts of subs setup sub up port back. But definitely unless you have some custom band pass made where you’re porting into the cabin from the trunk you want everything ported to the rear

The reason I say face the sub towards the rear is because of the wavelength. For example, an 80Hz wave is 14.13 ft long. So if it can be properly deflected inside the car, if your roof is well insulated, it will work. The sound isn't really coming from the ports. The speaker size doesn't affect this, speaker size only affects the frequency response, meaning a larger speaker will play deeper notes obviously.

You need to be able to bounce the wave around inside the car to maximize your setup.

Your work looks nice from what I can see in the small pics, have you tried Imgur?

This is as far as I got on my latest stereo hahaha, the engine swap is more important at the moment.

Most of my stuff is sundown audio, It just kinda happened that way since my buddy parted out one of his builds. Also really nice that they are right down the highway from me here in North Carolina. That little sub is their sa8 v.3, the amp is an older sundown saz-3500d I also have a sax-125.2 that I need to get hooked up for the front doors. I cut into the doors and installed a set of sundown sa-6.5cs components. And as far as powering all these amps is a xs power d1200 under hood and 2 xs d3100’s in the rack in the rear. Still patiently waiting for my DC power inc. 270a alternator

I'd like to hear that big little 8 lol. I'm old and haven't heard of that brand before.

Look on YouTube they are awesome little subs. This 8 sounds amazing I just need more than what it has to offer. Now a pair of these things would probably be great. And as far as the company goes sundown audio is more on the competition side of things but they do have more budget friendly stuff as well that sounds great for everyday life

Edit: btw that “little” 8 weighs in at 25 pounds

Like I said it will be a never ending change to see what subs I want to use. Cut up an old box to make a temporary box to test a 12 and realized I need more than one to fit my needs.

Now to try a 15. Probably end up building a new box and running 2 of these.
