Well , this guy is driving me crazy....

Driving in the highway, the volvo suddenly stops. It crank but no starts....
Towed to my indy mechanic, this car shows the following pattern:

Timing belt checked OK
Coil and spark OK
Fuel in tank OK
Battery charged OK
Fuel relay OK
No codes on both ports, lh and ezk
Fpr is new (1 year) and looks good, also the fuel filter
New ECT and CPS (1 month)
Fuses OK

And what is better:

It cranks
The car did not start on ether
Both pumps works out of the car but not mounted on it
Once the fuel relay installed, the car did not prime fuel
And the fuel pumps seems to be not energized; it has no fuel on the fuel rail once I put KP II.
When fuses #4-#6 are connected, the pumps does not work....

Now dunno what to do :(

Any advices would help
Many thanks in advance

Maybe add proper 12V right to the pumps and try it?

Did you try to add a 3 legged jumper wire in place of the fuel pump relay? I needs to connect big red, big orange, big red/yellow.

Also check main fuse near battery.

Check the ecu LH2.4 ECU:
1 - brown - to ICU pin 17
2 - yellow white - to ICU pin 7 and throttle idle switch
3 - blue-white - to full throttle switch
4 - red - always on power
5 - brown-black - ground
6 - green-yellow to MAF pin 2
7 - red-white to MAF pin 3
8 - white to MAF pin 4
9 - orange - switched power from fuel pump relay
10 - NC
11 - NC
12 - green-black to diagnostic box socket 2
13 - blue-red to coolant temp sensor
14 - green to AC pressure switch
15 - grey-red from AC relay
16 - NC
17 - black - main ground
18 - green-white - injector control
19 - brown-black - option jumpers
20 - blue-green - control to fuel pump relay
21 - yellow-black - control to fuel injection relay
22 - pink-white - to ICU pin 3
23 - NC
24 - green - signal from O2 sensor
25 - yellow-brown to ICU pin 8
26 - violet - shift indicator light (manual gearbox only)
27 - NC
28 - brown-white to ICU pin 4
29 - black to option jumper
30 - blue-yellow from ignition switch starter contact
31 - NC
32 - white/black to cold start injector
33 - green-red to idle air control
34 - blue-black from speedo signal
35 - blue from ignition switch 'run'.

Crank position sensor?

If there is spark and you did your ether test correctly, I would suspect crank sensor.

Check it with a labscope for the proper waveform.

Actually, it doesn't make sense you would have spark and no fuel. Read my no start thread for ideas. In my signature.

Is timing staying the same or jumping? Ignition.

What did you do to fix that smoking issue from last time?

I read your NoStart thread... It gave me ideas but right now I'm not with the car...
The timing is OK , my mechanic saw this.
What I fix to solve the smoke issue was:
Change the ECT (had one blue for lh2.2- changed for the black one lh2.4)
New fpr
New O2 sensor
Replaced pre pump- the former pump were dead
And that solve the issue... The engine were fuel flooded !
It worked for almost a year but the CEL came on again for the ECT and I had to replace it again.
And what the f**ck is going on now?
How can be possible not have energy for the pumps?
The CPS was replaced just when The car died, the same moment, for a new and OEM CPS!!!
I changed by myself

This is a bonus track:'when the key is on KP II , does the Abs pump make a clicking sound? I never heard it before...

I was reading on ipdusa.com , if there is no spark, the security system blocks the fuel supply to avoid flooding the system and a possible explosion....
So yesterday, I told to my mech if he can re check the spark in all cylinders, and he has no spark at the number 1....
Let's see what happen from here to the rest of the day....

Nah that's bullsgit.

I have all the circuits close to memorized.

Spark diag thread:

The crank sensor goes to the ezk unit.

The ezk unit tells the LH unit when there are revolutions.

The LH unit GROUNDS THE relay to trigger the pumps.

Your 93 240 has a 25 amp blade fuse located under the hood, on the left fender rail.
This fuse does the job that fuse #6 did on your car in the 1992 and some other models, but has no function on your 93 model.
This 25A blade fuse powers all of the ignition and fuel system on your car.
It located about half way back from the battery and fire wall, and has a red, hot wire feeding it from the battery positive post.

Check this fuse.

Hope this helps

Incorrect.

There is no fuse under the hood on a 93. 91 was the last year for that.

My no start thread covers how to inspect the LH relay. It's the core of the system. If the fuse were blown it would show up in your tests here. Basic electrical diagnostics at this location will tell you a boat load!

Shouldn't he be checking for power from the ECU to the relay, pins 9, 20 and 21?

As I say, post up a wiring diagram and we can walk thru this together.

I don't have pin numbers memorized and never will.
