When I got my 76, it didn't have a gas cap so I am not really sure what the cap looks like or how it screws into the fill tube. I think I am missing a part or something because my fill tube is a smooth aluminum tube with no apparent means of screwing in a gas cap. Does anyone have a picture or a parts diagram? Are 76 gas caps different then later cars?

Late 140/160 and early 240/260's used a different style gas cap. It sounds like your tank and fill tube have been updated because you should have notches in the end of the tube to accept the cap.

If your fill tube looks like this, you need the screw on cap.

I have the cap and filler neck end piece. There are a couple of more parts involved though. There are 2 seals (#18 & 21) and the leaded fuel restrictor (#20) as well. The resitrictor isn't necessary, but you'll still need at least 1 seal which is no longer available from Volvo.
