1989 240 Turbo "Mako"

Well here's an update

Got the motor mounts all done, found out the rear main seal is leaking in the transmission, the right inner tie rod is bad, I still am leaking oil (not much though).

But since I got the mounts done, I finally got this:

Untastefully ricey? I hope not :(

2.5" Exhaust from the Cat Back, the cat and up were already 2.5" so that's good. And a Short Cherrybomb glasspack at the end of it all. It sounds great and does its job well, quiet when off the gas, loud when on the gas.
only untastefull thing is having the red glass pack in plain sight imo.

I tried to tuck it under there to put a tip on it eventually.

i dont think he will be blowing it up with his setup

he'll blow it up slowly. and before it finally goes, it'll just suck more and more incrementally.

at least the aw71 will work the way it's supposed to and will fit the bill until he can afford to put a proper trans in the car.

i haz one accumulator modded with 30k on it.... thats right 30k.... buy it!

So update:

I sourced a nice aw71 that I am going to pick up next weekend so I can later swap it in sometime soon.

Now I also did my first injector swap, I bought low impedance instead of high impedance so I flooded my engine, hopefully, it didn't damage the ecu.

Now I am in need for some good high impedance injectors.

I really cashed out on this last meet, 3" AMM, Lower radio bezel (for template), good 15g, and an AW71

too bad I drove a 740 with an M46, now I want to do a 5 speed swap.

Nice score's, how much did the lower radio bezel cost? I'd like to see some pictures of the side markers on the front fenders, I have them but haven't installed them yet.

I got it for free, it was an aftermarket one that was warped from sitting over time, but no matter, I was going to use it for something different anyway.

About the sidemarkers, depends...

If you have -85 you can't install them without cutting holes, 86+ is just removing the badge and running the wires.

But there was something else too...

Rob and Jamie pulled a drivers seat from a junked 240 that was also tan, which I decided to take apart and restore since it had potential.

From there I cleaned it and removed the original one for comparison.
New on left, old on right.

Not only would the bars without foam hurt me, this is why my seat leaned.

Here are some more photos.

Ok, here are some final pics. They were in low light so I may get better ones soon.

No more bad lean.

Got an oil cooler kit and a good 15g + ported exhaust housing + clocked wg actuator, time for some fun...

Got a very stable part time job today but it doesn't start till the 8th of Jan, so I will get some more work done to this one. Suspension is on my to do list next.

But first I present you with the list of stuff I want to get done before Jan 7th rolls around:

I call it Operation Christmas Broke.

First things first, I want to install my Oil Cooler. It is worrying me that the engine is running hotter than normal without a sufficient cooler.

1. Get brackets made and install the coolers under the front bumper. I have two oil coolers, I am going to install them side by side.

2. Get custom made hoses for each cooler, one is going to be for the oil. The other one is going to be for the transmission until I swap it out for a manual.

3. Install the oil sending unit onto the block and hook everything together.

4. Once I swap transmisssions, run a little pipe from one cooler to the other. DUAL OIL COOLING BITCHEZ

(I have never seen someone run two oem setrab coolers side by side, may be the first person to attempt this)

Second thing is working with my manifold/turbo.

1. Fix the crack in my exhaust manifold, I can hear a leak on the highway and I think this is the cause of it. I want to get it fixed once and for all.
2.Manifold and Downpipe need to be wrapped, did some research on it and it doesn't seem too hard when they are taken off.
3.Port the manifold out further, it was cheaply but effectively done with a dremmel, want more.
4.Get the 15g reclocked, ported and installed. Got all the parts, I just need the knowhow and some work.

Third thing is very simple, add a lucas oil additive to reduce piston slap and keep things better lubricated.
Fourth, I want to install a good set of brake pads, rotors are too expensive and I can get more life out of these, so I am going with EBC Greenstuffs because I heard good things about them.
Fifth, install an oil pressure sensor, involves tapping a 1/8npt thread into the top of a banjo bolt, then running a sender.
