Hi there, My 245's rear wiper switch has stopped working. It seems a wire broke off at the switch base (way up inside the stalk) and there's no way to fix it without somehow removing the plastic "sleeve" from the metal stalk itself.

Has anyone done this at any point? Not sure if it's a press fit or a plastic lock type construction... Haven't had any luck sliding it off either. Maybe I could cut out the back?

Cheers.

[EDIT]

I just stuck a dremel in the back of it, resoldered my wire, sealed it back up with silicone. It took 20 min tops.

For future reference, here's where you need to cut to access the solder joints:

seems like you have diagnosed the switch vs the much more common problem related to the wires in the tailgate hinges. I have not opened a lever, but it will likely be easier and cheaper to post here in wanted for a good used one. good luck

Yeaa, that's probably the way to go. Though I'm a student so I've got loads more manhours to spend before I'm better off buying anything haha.

Still, can't stand it being a single solder joint that makes me have to throw away an otherwise fine blinker stalk. :-(

Those are crimped shut/plasti welded iirc. You can pop it open but it’ll be hard to get it back into position and keep the springs under tensions. I literally just bought one on here for $15, easier just to replace

Guess I could ask around sometime. According to some sites I need a super specific '92 or '93 switch... Time for some calls. Gotta keep in mind that i'm europe based which doesn't seem to be advantageous looking at the prices lol.

Is there a difference between 90 and 92? I was given a 90 wiper stalk out of a wagon and it just had the regular female plug on the back

Yeahh...
