Just came across this. I've always wanted a wagon, but this will be much more useful for me. I live in Canada and currently have 2 Skodas and VW Jetta. Like previously stated... I have always wanted one of those slammed wagons producing overly amounts of power melting the back tires off. But this will be a good start. Just waiting on the seller to send me pictures of the box/end cab to make sure it is not rotten. It comes with a safety which in Canada is required to place a car on the road and to insure it. I will need all the help in the world.

Looks like the tailgate on this one opens. Most of the conversions I see have a solid , not opening tailgate. Would have looked better with the small Volvo window in the 1/4 panel.

I am not sure if I will ever understand these! But honestly this one looks well out together at first glance! Interested to see how they dealt with the bed!

The tail gate does not open because the conversion is made from a sedan not a station wagon...

Kinda sucks that someone would do this to a 242. It even has a GT badge on the back, although I don't think it's an actual GT. What a shame. I love the whole Volvo pickup thing, but not this one. Use a wagon or a sedan. Don't cut up a coupe for it. And let the flaming begin for my love of 242s...

I'm not sure if it is a 242, the angle of the pics taken is making it hard for me to judge the length of the doors.

I still really want to know where this is?!? I can't see a single license plate in the picture but the O.P 's talk of a safety inspection makes me think Ontario. I'd love to see this thing in the flesh. If it's in eastern Ontario O.P. , maybe the eye of an experienced Volvo person could tell you if it's worth touching or structurally compromised?

I "think" it's a 242 GLT going by the interior and steering wheel. Still waiting on a reply with the pictures and more info. I'm so excited. Not the wagon I've always wanted... But still just as happy to buy a Volvo.

Looking at the seam where B-pillar meets the factory body makes me worry. It's a different shade of black and oddly lumpy.

Not a GT but maybe a GLT 81-83 in Canada...European import, no A/C plumbing...

Also doesn't have k-jet fuel plumbing, but has a k-jet air intake, which makes me wonder #1 WTF kind of fuel delivery system it's running on and #2 where the heck are the injectors?

It has K-jet, look closer at the straight on engine picture.

I see a non-k jet airbox and no fuel lines.

Though I don't really know what I'm looking at for an N/A k jet car tbh.

Well good luck with it dude

A b23e is a rockin' engine though so I bet that thing gets out of it's own way pretty well.

Ok... so what I gather from this forum is that this car is an abomination and I should stay far far away?

Not at all. I'm not gonna lie, I want it too. I do worry about wether it's structurally sound with that truck-ifying.

So it is a GLT. The tailgate does NOT open. Was last certified in June 2014 but he is willing to get it certified again for me. He said he sent the back end pics. Told him I did not get them. He will send them again he said.

If it passed a certification/safety... would that not mean it is structurally sound? Case-O-Beer safety's have gone the way of the dodo... so im not worried about a rubber band safety.
