Hi,

What are the part numbers for the power steering rack U rubber mounts for a 1985 240? FCP and IPD don't carry them

Thank you

Looking on GCP, I don't see them listed for power steering, just non-power steering. Hmm.

They say for vehicles without Power steering
Reference: 1205667

Volvo Part # 1272678 I think is for the brace that covers the mount. But, I can't find it listed anywhere.

If the Skandix part looks about right, it might be the replacement

You mean the GCP parts calatog?

I guess I could try looking in the later 240 catalog, perhaps the part numbers are the same for early and late 240's

In 1979-1984 240-260 Catalog, this is the only part number listed:

1205667

and it is called a Spacer. In that parts page, CAM/ZF specific numbers are listed.

My PDF Reference Page: 949

Strange that it is only for manual steering

For those of us with power steering, what can be done?

Typo errors do exist...but OEM catalogs can't get it wrong twice.

Does the item above look like the part?

Look at this ebay ad: https://www.ebay.fr/itm/362701069910

and move your mouse over the part

Post a picture of what you are looking for. I have never seen a PS 240 rack that was rubber mounted.

Or a 7 or 9. Think of how the car would drive if the rack had some wiggle.

The early 240 manual steering racks were/are rubber mounted.

Over on Volvotips in the 240 Service Manual (Green Books) section...
http://www.volvotips.com/index.php/2...ervice-manual/

Down in Front End (section 6) ...
Part 1 has Manual rack installation on page 36:
Big rubber spacer(s) around the whole thing.

Part 2 has Power rack installation on page 61.
A block behind it, and a naked U-bolt holding it on.

In this very large ebay picture, there is a metal "shield" (brace) around rubber spacer

I thought the text beside the picture would be self-explanatory.
"Install the rubber spacers and plates..."
I guess I was wrong.

Gentlemen, you are correct. There is no rubber mounting on the power steering rack. There is on the manual rack, I assumed there would be on the power rack too. I was wrong

Your assumption was in error...that's all! I posted a nice pic that also showed the part number.
