The one on there is original, full of moss, and allows a ton of water in the car. I ordered the rubber gasket OEM from ipd and there are no instructions out there. (That I saw anyway.)

Remove the original

Clean the channel well

Use some liquid soap to allow install

Splice is centered at the bottom.

Lots easier upside down on sawhorses in case you have other work to do on the hatch.

Volvo didn't think so. The rubber is a little smaller than the door which makes it want to stay in place with the stretch factor.

If the channel is not rusty it should hold just fine without stickum. If not clean and rust free a little contact adhesive could be used in a few spots. I would NOT use something like 3M weatherstrip adhesive unless you have a serious rust problem.
