Never been here before.

Never had an ignition key that will not go into the key slot. Picked at it with a small screwdriver and cannot get whatever is blocking the key out of the way.

Suggestions before I totally ruin it?

Going down to the garage to get a real pick.

Spray some triflow / CLP in there, those locks are a mixed bag of ferrous and nonferrous metals and after ~20 years the factory grease has dried up.

And no don't use graphite lock powder since that's for brass lock cylinders.

Had some PB Blaster penetrating oil handy. That and a sharp pick to move the dust door fixed it.

The tumblers probably just seized. I would pull out the lock cylinder and regrease the tumbers/springs so later you don't end up in the same position/worse
