Default P1 guys: E-code swappability?

So, since I got the e-codes on the 850 right before we sold it, now it's time to visit the possibility of doing the same on the V50.

09 V50 with the halogen not the HID setup.

Can I swap in the euro stuff without an issue?

Anybody happen to know part numbers for the proper LHT lights? Found a few over in the UK, don't have access to my euro parts catalog right now.

Better question...has anybody done the swap, does it make as much of a difference as the 2/7/9/8 series does?

This doesn't answer your question, and I'm probably just being pedantic, but a v50 is a P1, no?

I must've been hitting the sauce a little too hard last night.

There doesn't seem to be much info about this out there. I did a search expecting some swedespeed stuff to come up, but I see nothing. (There also doesn't seem to be many p1/p2/p3 owners here.)

I don't think anyone has tried it. Most of the guys interested in P1 headlight mods seem to have their hearts set on HIDs, but retrofitting them to a car that originally had halogen lights is a huge pain because of the way the lights are powered and you can't swap the OE bi-xenons to a car that wasn't originally equipped with them.

My gut says that Euro lights wouldn't be a big deal to bolt in (assuming you're replacing halogen lights with halogens) but they might not offer a huge improvement over the US lights.

They should be a little better, going from H11's to H7's, steps up the light output right there, dunno on the housing design though.

I did check, at least there's no software variances at least, staying halogen, and a lot of the housing bits are the same part number.

I have no desire to do the HID route if I don't have to, too damned pricey, especially when it comes time to throw some bulbs in it, plus the need for the added hardware and software updates.

Got a contact, so roughly $300-350 delivered for a pair of OEM's in nice used condition...just gotta get some funds...

I was checking in VIDA for something a few years ago, and think I remember something about a manually selectable shutter in the projecter that changed between DOT/ECE cutoff patterns and also rht/lht for ECE. I looked at some housings more recently, but couldn't see anything like that.

Not sure if I imagined it, or maybe it was p3 cars, or only the xenon ones? I don't have access to VIDA right now to check though.

I once worked on a new 2005 v70r with a bulb failure warning message and lots of oddball codes. The wiring diagrams didn't match the car and all the lights seemed fine. Figured out the car had been built with e-code lamps and other stuff incorrect for the NA market, but with NA software.

They take different bulbs as well, different mounting, so I think there's more than just a shutter. Also the complete assembly is entirely different, at least on the dual halogen's.
