Default Anyone here have ATS wheels?

I came across these pretty neat looking rims at some point, but the only pics I can find of them are on P1800s or 140s, and a quick google image search only pulls up a few.

Anyone have any pics of these on 240s/740s?

The offset is 32 et not really ideal for a 240.

D'oh. Here I was looking at the 5x108 pattern and thinking 140 and 240 wheels were the same. That kinda sucks.

140's, for whatever reason, have FWD-like offsets. Same situation as later model FWD offset wheels - just use some adapters/spacers.

Perhaps, but are they the 2/7 ATS wheels I can find?

Get adapters from 5x108 to 5x114.3 and you can fit FWD offset wheels - there's way more to choose from and they're usually lower priced than desirable 5x108 wheels.

Real bummer. I do like the way those ATS wheels look, but I guess it makes sense that they're ONLY for the pushrod cars.

I managed to find a source for fairly-priced OEM 240 alloy wheels, so that's probably what I'm going to end up with.

Well at least with ventilated Girling calipers.

Seems like a lot of trouble and expense for some 5.5" wide wheels.

You're right. It is.

Maybe if I buy back my 144 in five years, I'll throw a set on there. Until then, I managed to snag a set of dracos on the cheap.

They're still 5-spoke, so close enough.

Thanks for your input!

That is a nice looking wheel though. Too bad they didn't make it larger. Kind of weird they put all the specs on the outside where you can see it. Makes it look like someone put it on backwards, that would bother me looking at it..

They even managed to miss the 40mm 140 offset by 8mm because of the thickness of the alloy inner lip is in conflict with the top of the upper ball joint at full droop.

Its a popular wheel for VW Typ1. Google for ATS Classic and you will find different sizes. 7 and 9 inch wide at least.

I guess they are still manufactured.

Looking it up, it seems the wider wheels are only in 13 inch. The 15's are still only 5.5 inch wide. They're also all only 4 lug. unfortunate.

They basically wouldn't bolt up on a 140 if the offset was correct.

HI

In Australia we have a wheel that is fairly similar to ATS wheels. They go by different names over the years. There is a company making these wheels new in different sizes from 15 inch to 17 inch
15 inch

Yes also for painted. I dunno I see that seller listing things for all the monies lots. He’s got good stuff but for aftermarket paint I would need to be lower.

I know a guy with a nice set I’ve been begging to sell me for a while. I said name your price he said $1500 I said ok, then he raised it to $1800 then he backed out lol. Damn.

I feel most of the forum is too cheap to spend that much on wheels though.

But also, when you're stuck with the uncommon bolt pattern of 5x108, there's really not much choice outside of high end wheels.
