I like nice and subtle, looks great.

Thanks! Subtle was what I'm going for.

Well the weather is keeping me from finishing this project up today. But I got what I could finished up. I need to run all the wires and make one underhood connection and then I should be able to tune it and start using it. I probably got a little wild with the hot glue.

OK everything is in and calibrated. The sensor took a little longer than I would have thought to get to operating temp, well biased on how it was acting and then cleared up. It took maybe a minute after the engine reached temp. I don't know if that's "normal" or if it was due to a 26* ambient air temp. But the readings went from all over the place, too fast to read to steady legible reading like a snap. instructions say that's how it should be. The car seems to spool faster now, and the butt dyno says it's got more power. I'm going to start working on getting a set of chips and doing a wasted spark conversion next.

I've got a question on paint code/color. If I'm reading the data tag correctly my paint color is #412, Blue-Green Metallic. Can anyone confirm this? I'm finding huge color differences between the paint suppliers. One place this color looks more to the teal spectrum others more British Racing Green. This supplier has the closest, IMHO; http://www.automotivetouchup.com/touch-up-paint/volvo/1995/940-[slash]-960/

Just trying to make sure I'm reading things right before I place an order.

You’re correct on the code, the color is Tropic/Metalic. The ‘22’ after 412 indicates the paint is Standox water based Metallic/Pearl + Varnish as well. Hope this helps.

OK so after months of no progress I've got the car back. I've been working on this sh*tbox X5 my wife just showed up with and she's been driving the 940. Long story short after the avalanche of issues in the X5 she decided to listen to what I told her in the first place and go buy a Grand Cherokee, I think I've used up a lifetimes worth of "I told you so." in the last month. But anyway....My wasted spark chip showed up yesterday and I'll hopefully be ordering fuel/ignition chips this payday. Unfortunately I've kinda lost steam on this car. I don't need a cruiser like I had planned in the beginning now that we have the GC, so I don't know what I want to do. I was going to place an order for IPD springs while they're on sale, but they are a back order item and I can't get an estimate on when they'll be back in stock. I need to paint the car, if I do it'll be either British Racing Green or Dark Jade Metallic from Eastwood. I need to update the stereo, thinking about a double din Android unit. And I want to start working on my Benz caliper/S60R rotor BBK swap. But I'm at a loss as to what to do. LS swap? maybe, T5 swap? meh, B230ft+16v? I kinda like that the best, but still don't know. Ditch the IPD springs and go coil overs? I'm half tempted to do a pro-street build, but don't think I will. As a cruiser I wanted to keep the auto, but now maybe a CD009 swap with either 3.31 or 3.54 gears? UHG just don't know.

Sorry for the rant. Hopefully I'll form a plan by the time I get my chips in.

Finally gathered up all the parts needed(not all in the pic) for a chip upgrade and wasted spark conversion. Got some general maintenance to do to the daily's, then on to this.

<a href="https://ibb.co/N7JPq4d"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/Kmfkg1p/20190802-145725.jpg" alt="20190802-145725" border="0"></a>

Woo-hoo, finally got to work on the Volvo today. All the daily drivers are caught up and good, the house projects are done, and the baby is on track for a smooth delivery near the end of September. So all and all things are starting to smooth out.

Got a turbo blanket for the little 13c. I know I probably don't need it, but I've had some loom melting issues, no wires but didn't want to chance it.

<a href="https://ibb.co/60td7Zg"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/60td7Zg/turboblanket.jpg" alt="turboblanket" border="0"></a>

The started the chipping and wasted spark conversion. My soldering skills are not professional grade but everything is connected properly and I hot glued wires to secure them. I did mess up and put the card on upside down. Everything fit into the box fine, just looks a little wonky. Also I got into a fight with the bracket the ignition ECU screws to and I cut it out. Next time I'll read the removal procedure first.

I've still got to make brackets for the coil and ignition module, plus wire them all up. I'm hoping to get that all done this weekend.

Does anyone know if the 13" R brake swap fits under the 17" Propus wheels? Just being lazy and haven't searched. The next project once all this is done will be a BBK swap.

Don't propus wheels use adapters? Take the brakes into consideration when getting spacers/adapters? What brackets do you plan on using?

Yeah I'm running 25mm adapters all around. I haven't decided on the adapters yet. I'm going to try custom brackets with Benz/Brembo 4-pot calipers that I've got laying around. They are similar in size to the R calipers, I don't have the measurements in hand ATM but I have done the comparisons. They'll work with the stock R rotors. If I don't feel like dealing with them or get short on time I'll just go with a traditional R conversion. Just wondering on the wheels, I really like them and would prefer not to change them. But I'll need tires soon so now is a good time to change to a larger wheel.

Got the coil and driver mounted up, replaced the spark plugs and made some custom plug cables. The car runs, but runs poorly. I checked the pinout from the WS-board, and if I swap those two the car turns into a cranking no-start. So I'm pretty sure I've got my wiring and firing order correct. I went ahead and swapped the coil & cables for the stock dizzy back and the engine runs 100% smoother. I did that mainly for peace of mind to make sure that the new plugs weren't damaged and that it's not extremely poor idle during the re-learn with the new chips. Tomorrow I'll ohm out the custom cables and pull the ignition box back out and check over my connections. Dollars to doughnuts I screwed up a connection on the WS board.

Went back trough everything and nothing jumped out as wrong, so I pulled the EZK and just redid everything. That seems to have fixed the issue. I guess 30 years of using my hands as hammers hasn't given me the steadiest of hands these days, but that's life. I still need to pull the dizzy, pop in the Dee Works plug, change the oil and figure out what my exhaust has started to vibrate against at idle/low speed. That's for a different day, now it's time to enjoy whats left of this three day weekend.

<a href="https://ibb.co/BTzGtRj"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/BTzGtRj/WS-mountedfull.jpg" alt="WS-mountedfull" border="0"></a>

Got the distributor out, Deeworks plug in, installed the AC compressor tensioning bolt & lock bolt, and started painting the valve cover.

<a href="https://ibb.co/wBmRNJr"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/wBmRNJr/WS-dizzyout.jpg" alt="WS-dizzyout" border="0"></a><a href="https://ibb.co/sbbH7Np"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/sbbH7Np/WS-dizzyplug.jpg" alt="WS-dizzyplug" border="0"></a><a href="https://ibb.co/yXChGwc"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/yXChGwc/valvecover1.jpg" alt="valvecover1" border="0"></a><a href="https://ibb.co/sJf0LQB"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/sJf0LQB/valvecover2.jpg" alt="valvecover2" border="0"></a>

So the original plan with the valve cover was to paint the whole thing that green color, then just hit the raised top of the letters in the orange I've been using. But after looking at it today I think I'm going to leave the top of the letters green and paint that whole center raised panel and oil fill area orange. Guess I'd better figure it out by tomorrow.

Finished up the valve cover and found that the exhaust was rubbing my chassis plate. Clearanced the plate so hopefully I won't have that issue anymore, might end up making a third motor mount but hopefully not. My tape off skills are kinda weak, so I had to do a bunch of touch-up to the lettering on the valve cover, but I think it looks good enough. I'm not going for show car, just cleaned up and a little more visually appealing. I still haven't figured out exactly what drivetrain I want in this car. It'll probably just end up staying stock and gotten rid of before I finish it. I've got to get some tires for this one and my Wrangler needs the front end rebuilt, and I've got a kid showing up anytime in the next few weeks. With all that happening I think all my "big plans" will stop.

Cover is back on, oil is changed, time to get the chassis plate back on and changer some dash bulbs.

I've been working a little on the spoiler I've got. One of the nutserts broke off and the bolt head had to be ground off and both lens bolts snapped off. I'm going to use well-nuts and stainless steel hardware as the replacements. I also had to repair some damaged wiring, soldered the new wires this time. I'm also going to have to epoxy fill and re-drill the lens mounting holes. I used a spot weld drill bit to cut the heads off the mounting bolts and that took a little much out of the holes. It was all I had available at the time though. Now I just need the humidity to die out so I can paint the thing.

I'm a two tanks into my newly chipped ECU/EZK, but I've got some issues still. At full throttle/boost I still run rich, 9.0-9.5 AFR, I'll be checking for vacuum and/or boost leaks this week, hopefully. Also I noticed that at full throttle and boost at 90MPH/5400RPM I've got a buzzing coming from what seems like the ECU location. I'm half wondering if my Swedish supplied chips suck, maybe I'll be able to get TLAO to respond to PMs this time.

Id been on the fence about IPD springs or coilovers for this car for a while, then IPD ran them on sale for $170 and I said "F*#k it". I got the rear springs installed today, I'll start the fronts tomorrow maybe. Just a push the bumper test revealed them to be firmer than my cut OE springs. Hopefully I'll be happy with them.

Also got a couple coats of primer on the spoiler. First coat was epoxy primer, then two coats of filler primer. I'm going to let that set up overnight take some 2k W/D sand paper to it and hopefully get a good coat of paint on it tomorrow.
