![]() So my car has developed a misfire(1996 940), I messed around with the turbo oil return over the last few days and when I finished i felt that the car is sputtering sometimes, I also noticed that the 1st spark plug wire had separated from the metal part in the wire so I thought that that caused it but I repaired it and the car is still sputtering sometimes.
For example at idle it sometimes skips a spark and even more when I rev it from idle but when I hold it at 2k it is fine. When accelerating spiritly it also sputters alot. Now is the problem actually the plug wires or could it be something else? |

![]() With a cold engine. Take a look at your spark plugs. Check the gap. Also spark plug wires that look fine can be garbage. You probably need new wires and the plug gap is worn and large.

![]() also:
does the misfire happen when it is raining? If yes, check the rubber seal on the parafan cover. Water can drip onto the distibutor and cause misfires. |

![]() I had very similar symptoms caused by cracked distributor cap. Only had about 30K miles on it, not Bosch- something made in Italy.
