Default 940 Engine Swaps?

Anyone ever do any engine swaps on some 940s? I'm thinking of throwing a 289 bored out to a 302 into mine and was wondering if anyone had any luck with this kind of stuff ever.

Take a search around this site and you'll find that various Volvos have had all kinds of motors stuffed into them including all nature of small blocks ranging from mild through twin turbo LS1's, not to mention people putting every nature of other Volvo motors, both stock and modified into their cars. We're all still waiting for that day when the planets align and someone finds a Bugatti Veron at the boneyard for $400. There are a lot of alternatives to good ol' American Iron depending on what you want from your car.

Yeah haha the bugatti would be great.
I've been searing around on the sites and other sites as well but can't find much on 940 engine swaps though. I found one site with a kit for a 700 series to be able to swap in a 302 ford motor. Nothing for 940s though.

900's and 700's are almost the same thing.

You have a giant engine bay... you could put pretty much anything you like in there. Go hog wild.

Apparently the Saab 9000 2.3 turbo engine is proper solid and from the internet forum knowledge (whether it be trust worthy ) it can hold 500BHP on standard internals ??? Dont know much more info than that at the moment but it has definately been done a few times on the driftworks forum i visit in a old E30 BMW and a Vauxhall Omega . The Omega gearbox mats onto it with ease thus making it RWD.

Not sure how many Saab you get over in US.

There are Saabs out here. I have a question. I'm sure if I put a 302 engine in i'd have to get some more heavy duty suspension for sure. Except what are some other things I'd be looking at that I'd have to buy? Would my stock transmission be able to handle it?

one of the most retarded swaps I've ever seen mentioned....jesus...all that trouble when you have a good Volvo engine to begin with.....

the 302 weighs more, so stiffer front springs....

spend the $20 and get the V8 conversion book from "jags that run"

why would you use your stock transmission???

you use a Ford transmission to mate with the Ford engine...

I didnt say for the guy to do the swap you turd !

It was merely an engine swap that i had recently seen people do and so thought i would share information i had come across with the Turbobricks community.

Like i said i know very little about it but there are claims of engines being able to cope with 500bhp on standard internals now to me if this is true then it is a very cheap starting motor cause im sure the standard internals of the volvo cant cope with that.

i have a turbocharged Ford 306ci v8 in my 1984 760, it's fun and stuff but really makes the car a turd for handling.
