940 G80 repair

Noticed that 940 locker does not engage sometimes, opened diff cover and saw that one little axle is missing one spline (that upper one: https://www.240turbo.com/G80MLocker-g80lo.jpg ).

How hard is that to replace, do I need to get whole carrier out or is there way to get those parts out without opening whole thing? Or maybe it's best to get whole working axle or finally get proper locker :nod:
 
You'd probably need some proper machining experience to repair that and even then it'd not be worth it. Get yourself a trutrac with preload installed and don't look back.
 
Yes, the 1041 and 1041K use the same ring and pinion as 1031. The 4 in 1041 indicates a G80 is installed.
