Default Touching up tiny paint chips

Like a lot of older cars, my 92 240 wagon has many tiny chips here and there around the body.

The paint has basically held up so well that I am not going to mess with doing a major overhaul until the paint is in much worse shape, but I was wondering about touching up some of these little spots.

There is rust on the metal, but the spots are super small. Should I leave them alone? Would touching them up trap moisture and make it worse? If I touch them up should I put something on the metal/rust first?

I have the same exact issue on my 88 244 and Im wondering the exact same thing. I think Im just going to leave it alone till I can get the whole body paint corrected.

You can try to remove the rust with a small fiberglass brush, then carefully spot treat and spot paint the chips. Takes a fine tip brush to do all of this.

What would I spot treat the spots with before painting?

I ordered some base and clear coat from these guys a couple of days ago:

https://www.paintscratch.com/

My car was actually just painted a few weeks ago but I managed to get a couple of stone chips whilst on the freeway UGH!

I am simply going to clean the chips, use a fine brush to paint base and clear.

Direct To Metal primer. You can buy a spray can, spray a small puddle on a piece of plastic and dip your fine tip brush in it.

Volvo dealers sell paint touch up kits for chips. They aren't that expensive.

I ordered a touch up kit from https://www.drcolorchip.com for my '91 940T and even the deepest pits and scratches are nearly invisible.
The results were much better than I had expected.
