Official LH2.4 EZK Wasted Spark Conversion - Installation Instructions

How does one purchase the buchka wasted spark kit?
Is there a separate order thread? Or by PM/mail/website? If so which?

Thanks in advance!!
Matthew.

Hi, I'm handling all sales through my website https://cflomoto.com/. We can ship worldwide and this interface really streamlined the process. Let me know if you have any questions.

Oh, so I tried ordering from this site, but found out that USPS currently does not ship to Israel, and with UPS the total price is very steep.

Hi, yes that's the situation unfortunately. Sorry I didn't realize you were the same person. I can ship via DHL as well, if they are operating as usual and are more affordable. Try adding the board to your cart and selecting DHL to see the rates.

I believe DHL is shipping from US to Israel perhaps with a small delay: https://www.simplydhl.com/covid-19updates

I have 96' 940t with a black plastic EZK box which I expanded with a daughter board from ClassicSwede

https://www.classicswede.co.uk/EZK_Daughterboard/p1733344_17042139.aspx

I also have an EZK chip installed into it.

I have two questions that I hope this is the right place to ask:

1. Will the buchka wasted spark kit be compatible with my setup?

2. How does the buchka wasted spark kit compare to the wasted spark kit that is offered by ClassicSwede -

Thanks in advance,
Matthew

After years looking I found the box where I had these two little bastards in. One is 44 and the other is 45. I wish I had an idea of how long I have had them.

And recently I got a 0 227 400 196 EZK (N/A, not chip ready). I also had a 0 227 400 148 which I manager to kill (?) when trying to install the daughterboad (think https://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?t=157730).

But, right now the 196 works. And I am feeling a bit brave, but I do not know if this has the reverse pinout issue.

Duder, did you ever make the bracket? If you did, you may also want to sell a set of spark plug wires with it.

haha, yeah.. a few days ago i found my board in a opened EZK219 i had laying around :D

btw.. i am lasercutting 16v mountingplates to hold VAG CoPs.. does anyone has interest in those?

I have the design for the Bosch 2x2 coil bracket, for mounting it where a 240 distributor would be, but have only produced the one prototype for my car. Kind of got pulled away from that by many other things in life.

If there's still demand I could make a run of them!

Spark plug wires are same as 240 except with the smaller style posts as found on the 740/940 on the distributor (coil) side. I haven't looked at producing those. They are easy enough to make yourself in a few minutes if you have the parts though.

Just got near everything wired in on my 740 -- only question is where/how do you mount the 2x2 221 503 407 Bosch coil?

I am in the process of relocating my Bosch 2x2 coil pack and the wires that I use will be too short. Any recommendations on a wire DIY kit or even a stock wiring option?

I essentially need 740 distributor wire connectors with 240 ignition wire length.

For my personal car, I bought a new set of 240 Kingsborne plug wires, then manually swapped out the ends on the coil side, using a set of 940 wires as donors. It's not hard to do, you can manually un-crimp and re-crimp them and everything works perfectly if you're careful about it.

I have made my wasted spark system with both 407 coil and J702T module, works fine and runs smoothly. Both coil and module are on the mounting plate and set above the head cover using 50mm extension studs, like some peoples do.

So I have measured the temperature of mounting plate just because the curiosity. The temperature of plate reached 60C degree, but not 70C. Considering the performance of ignition module, the plate temp may need to be kept lower. I’ll try to make the extension studs a little longer

Hi, everyone

first of all a happy new year to everyone

i installed the wasted spark on my volvo, but the engine now only runs on the 2-3 cylinder.
All connections are good I checked everything.

Does anyone have any idea what this may be?
Maybe the circuit board from buchka is defective?

Thanks for the help

Did my best to comb through this thread before posting, so I apologize in advance if this scenario has already been addressed.

Recently got my wasted spark setup installed after chasing a weird stumbling behavior (which wasted spark seems to have made better but didn't fix, but that's a story for a different thread).

The car is a 1993 volvo 940 turbo. I've followed the wiring diagram posted by byneset for using the bosch 2x2 coil and the j702t ignitor, the car runs but I have a question about two of my connections. For the tach and switched 12v connections for the j702t, I used the red/white stripe and blue colored wires from the stock coil. With the coil removed, the car starts and runs with these connections but the tach doesn't read. With the stock coil in place and these connections the car runs and the tach reads, but unfortunately this also powers the stock coil and things get a little sparky. Do I need to wire a dummy relay in place of the coil to use these connections and have a working tach? Or should I find different switched 12v and tach signal connections and leave the stock coil wires disconnected? Thanks

are you running into the issue where the tach is looking for the coil ring/spike and the TAC signal from the ignition module is only an open collector "square wave"? If so you either need the relay mod or remove/bypass the input resistor in the cluster to the tach. (and possibly add a pull-up resistor to the tach output.) I am not sure the specifics with that module though as I ran a 960 ignition module.
