Driving a 1986 240 Wagon. Has anybody had this issue? I can't get a signal through the 4th gear switch when testing. Drive it, and it doesn't work. I then changed the oil to 10W-30, now it works only when the transmission fluid is warmed. In 35 degree weather, I need to drive about 4 miles before it warms. In 50 degree weather, 1-2 miles will do (it hasn't warmed up yet in Michigan). I bet 5W-30 oil will be better, because it will get thrown-up to the switch quicker.
Does the warm fluid do something to the switch to make it work? How difficult is this switch to replace?
