Damn, good job on getting after all that rust. At some point I'm gonna need to look into doing the Fridge... but it'll be a doozy cause the Fridge was in a fairly hard clang sometime in its past.

I wanna replace basically the whole drivers engine bay sheetmetal in front of the strut tower, plus take it to a frame shop and see if it's straight.

It would be smarter to start with a nicer shell, but it wouldn't be the Fridge then

If anyone is parting a 740 with a decent drivers front quarter, lemme know, I'll be there with an angle grinder and a stack of cutoff discs.

M.

In need of either a repair guide for peeling door panel skins or a clean set of earlier model sets for a 740/940. Was thinking of just using 3M interior glue spray with clamps. But not quite sure how to remove what’s still stuck on there.

goof of should remove the old glue... or MEK (stinky stuff)

contact cement is most likely what was used. and would work well again.

The 7/9 seats have been sold.

Anyone need a minty black checked 240 front seat? Can't remember if left or right side.

Hey guys, just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. Recently picked up a 91 940 SE that I am working on for the time being, will eventually be my daily when we need a second car again.

And a link to a project thread I put up to track the progress.

Looking forward to seeing some of you around the Lower Mainland!

Sadly rust repairs can usually wait without long term skeletal issues.

Hopefully, the bone isn't broken in multiple places and you recover full function quickly.

It would be nice if a diet of quality oil and gasoline and plenty of rest was enough
for the rust holes to start to heal on their own.

As an older guy who doesn't heal quite as fast as he used to, and has plenty of
chronic aches and pains -- "It's like that now", I'd suggest prioritizing those x-rays...

The 240 is looking great, good for you for actually doing the work.

Hey folks, my brother just bought a '96 850R, had it checked it at my shop and was quite nice. Well, for a few days.

The turbo was replaced by a dealer about 3yrs ago and the vacuum hoses weren't quite right enough, and one blew off the turbo side. Went into overboost and bent a rod, pretty sure by the sound when I checked it out the other day. :/

I had him call Ed Schram's for guidance, but they don't do rebuilds. He's looking to beef it up and "build back better" and all that. Any folks have leads for us? Thanks!

mtd240: I suspect "the wives" have a super-secret forum to discuss whether or not they will let us buy Volvo parts.

If you can't find a shop there, I know one out here.

They aren't a machine shop. Plus a lot of machine shops are now closing down making the necessary machine work to refresh things difficult to get done..

I imagine, if he wanted to buy a motor and put it in. They could help him out.

It is harder to get the with dinner to repair or refresh things. We continue to move toward the replace not repair model of being.

Fake edit...Ed is dead, baby. It would take a long time for him to rebuild anything at this point.

The rest of the family lives on and so does the business though.
