Default Ignition coil getting hot 740 won’t turn over

Ignition coil getting hot 740 won’t turn over.

So a friend of mine has an 89 744, B230. All of a sudden today the car won’t turn over it’s getting power and was driven this morning just fine. We’ve noticed the ignition coil is very hot and the plug closest to the firewall clearly has what appears to be a bad ignition wire.

With these two findings with this caused the starter to not even respond? I figured the starter would at least still turnover but just not provide good spark from the distributor and plugs?

. . . won't turn over . . . .

Unsure if you are saying that the starter won't rotate the engine or the engine will not start.

We got it. I’m assuming the ECU was hot too. We had nothing no power, after a cool down it fired back up. Replacing plugs and wires today.

Thanks.
