Spring Rate Data

^those 200# stock car springs were what I used after you figured out to use the top cones on the bottom of a 240 rear set-up.

For anyone comparing my post about front-rear balance, remember that RWD Volvos have a 1.5:1 motion ratio (squared) in back, and a strut car loses a bit of rate from the SAI. (5%)

200# in back becomes 300# in vert.
350# in front becomes 333#.

Skip the motion ratio talk for a second..Whatchoo sayin, mang? The spring is behind the spindle....

shock is in front roughly what..How many INCHES from front pivot to axle center? How many inches from middle of the axle to the shock?

On a mid-80s 244,
front pivot to:
Axle 568mm
Spring 692mm
Shock 424mm

Go on, sir John?

I found my set of NOS IPD wagon lowering springs. They are black and are from somewhere around 2003. They have tags on them giving you the spring rate. 153lb on both front and rear springs.

I was able to get some spring data from our friends at Lesjofors and they gave me permission to publish it )

The sport kits have progressive rate in the rear. I also verified that the sport kit's rear rates are lower for the wagon.

Nice!!!

Any chance you can get the 240 diesel spring rate for the front? I had a pair that were a slight lift over stock and a go of bit stiffer.

Jim says no rates for 740/940. They're kept by the applications engineers in Sweden. Now, they do publish wire diameters, along with diameter and length, and maybe they're made from the same material as the 240 springs...
