Default Project Recovery 242 glt Turbo

So I decided that I needed to make a build thread here. I have mostly just been a lurker and just googled what I have needed. I now am trying to be more involved in the community. I have Met some really cool "old school" turbobrickers like Jesse here in Tucson, Brett who has been very helpful with my Maxxecu, Ben at BNe, Redblock society, Corvious, and a few more that my Adhd brain doesn't remember. I have owned this car just over a year, but I knew about it in 2017 when i bought my second volvo from the owner a 1988 744 gle five speed.

My volvo journey did not begin that long ago, I have always been into mostly japanese and some vw's, in 2016 I was getting divorced and needed a car to drive, i had a long commute and a 6 year old daughter. I came across a 1986 244 and drive the crap out of it. I was instantly in love with 240's later this car needed more work than I had the time or mainly space and tools to do the repairs that it needed. So i was looking for a solid daily and a 744 came up. When I went to pick up the 740 The owner is/was the parts manager at the local volvo dealership here, and he has a bunch of volvos p1800,855r,like one of all the cool ones. I saw a sad looking 240 under a car cover and asked about it. When he showed me what it was, i just said man if you ever want to sell this please let me know. So fast forward to Feb. of 2020 the pandemic had not yet started, and i get a call from the owner telling me that he almost had the 240 running and was ready to sell it. I jumped on it. He wanted 3400 bucks so not a deal but to me. This was my dream volvo, and for once in my life I had a budget for a project. like a big budget, for me at least. This car was a two owner. owned by a couple from Kansas ironically i am from kansas. Then owned by Patrick at volvo.

Fast forward to Sept. of 2020 I call this my recovery build because, in july I quit drinking, I almost drank myself to death slowly, so as my health was getting better and My interests were coming back, I started to mess with the 242. What started out as a nice stage zero build slowly turned into a full on volvo addiction to turbo power. So that's fine i am good with an addiction like this. I started driving the car at night when the roads were dead and just loving it. then one day i got a manual boost controller and that's where it all started. I will post more of the story with photos, but here is a photo of right when i started to drive in in Sept. I had not done anything to it yet. [IMG][/IMG]

Thanks! I apologize but I thought I posted a pic of my car. It’s been so long since I posted a photo to a forum I guess I forgot.

If you use an outside image hosting site you can post embedded links and have the image show in the post

I use imgbb.com without issue, others may recommend other options

If you look on google photos on the top right hand side... there are 3 dots. Click that and go down to where it says "embed item" That will give you a link you can paste here and have it show up.

Another option is flickr... 1,000 photos for free, $60/year for unlimited storage space.
