Found 2 Gems at the junkyard today

Normally I don't go to the junkyard when the inventory only indicates a couple of 700s as far as Volvos to pick from. Today I was looking for a replacement door for my Tahoe. Being a Volvo addict, I couldn't possibly ignore the 700s after making the trip over. I'm glad I did, as I walked by this '90 745ti I looked down and immediately thought...no, can't be...Geminis!!! A little bummed it didn't have the other 2 (I searched the entire yard to be sure) or any caps but still a huge score in my book.

Nice score. I can imagine the "urgency" you had looking for the other two, haha. Now all you have to do is source two more, and centercaps... only $1k more to spend and you'll have a complete set.:-P

You are exactly right. After dismounting the 2 and protecting them like a mother bear would her cubs, I checked every crevice for the other 2! The cap wrench was there but broken, so left it. I won?t keep these, I just couldn?t leave them after seeing them, I?ve never seen a Gemini in Spokane.

Eggcrate looks pretty good stuffed in a late 240 grille surround. Awesome snag, Ive been dreaming of finding a set recently

I basically said "rare". I didn't say "in demand" :)
But if I saw it for $20 I would have probably grabbed it because eventually someone is gonna be happy to use it.

They arnt that hard, although don't use a dremil on this much plastic in your bedroom:omg:

Just take off the pin clips and remove the surrounding of both, cut the bars in the 240 grille and attach the eggcrate portion using your preferred TB approved method, then put the 240 surround around it and contemplate painting it black

So are you keeping the 2 you found or are you going to sell them?

You may also want to ask at the front desk or back in the processing area if the other 2 are laying around somewhere. Sometimes, if the tires are *really* good, they'll pull the wheels, strip the tires to re-sell and junk the rims.

Nah. People can't be bothered. Why have a ghetto grille when there is one that is available to buy. Hell, I got an original eggcrate one for $100 shipped on Ebay. The emblem/sash was crap but that's easy to swap out.

If they're not there, someone got them or they were pulled before being set in yard.

Yeah I prefer going the stock route, just personal preference as you.

At the moment there are a 2 in ebay I think, one going for ~$150 the other $200.
