240 Replacing Hall sensor in an '86 240 DL

It depends on which distributor you have. If it's this one then you might be able to get the screws out and remove the sensor but you'll probably need to rotate the distributor to get access to all of them.

If it's this one then the distributor definitely needs to come out so the shaft can be removed.

Use two screwdrivers under the trigger vane to remove it. One under each side and pry gently. Use lots of penetrating oil and give it time to work.
