Mike Jr's Sick A$$ 164 project

My vote is for 165 since wagon>everything else, but awesome to see someone actually playing with a 164. Exited to see where you take the B30 in there.

Suspension you say?

What size is that?

holy cow that was my first car as well, a 1972 164e with overdrive. in that green as well with the tan leather interior. It had 468k miles on it and it finally blew the head gasket and stopped at a car lot in Seattle to sell it. IIRC the 72 b30 with fuel injection had just shy of 200 hp?

for a big heavy boat of a car, it actually cornered great. and it was amazing snow and offroad car I climbed some muddy rutted back roads in the cascades and the coast ranger. Never once did I get stuck or even broke down where I couldn't make it home. a true tank of a car should be a lot of fun once you get it all done.

the memory that triggered when I saw it lol.

That's really cool. They are solid cars. I've never driven one with a proper set up suspension so I'm looking forward to that.

I think that's sort of 'buy it now' price. The current auction bid is $150, but there's some sort of reserve on it.

Oh yeah here's a wheel teaser pics

My dad had a couple of 164 in the day. Interesting cars, definitely different than the "normal" cars of that time. Good luck with your project!

Have to ask, how is the Volvo holding up with towing?

I originally wanted to wait to post pictures of the wheels on the car, but I thought it would be better to document what it takes to mount these things, so... here is the wheel porn photo dump

For those that don't know what these wheels are, they are 3 piece Work Equip 05's 16x9 ET18, and 16x10.5 ET 12
I got them from 5x108 Heavywheight on IG. Great seller of redrilled wheels and accessories for Volvos
