![]() Oh how i know how you feel, i was so happy with this 740 after driving 140s for 3 years. She's not the prettiest nor the fastest but its a 700 and they just drive great with the mods i did (swaybars and shocks/springs)
Speaking of driving the 700 series, this model used to be taxfree but like Flip21 already noticed before the taxbreak on this car is now history and it will cost me 1500ish per year in tax alone. A newer car with G3 is more efffiecent and cheaper to run making me doubt what to do. All cars older then 40 years the only ones in the taxfree zone, but i ditched the 144 because i got sick of running it. I'll probabbly keep running this car but it does sting a little. I did went to the demonstration/protest against these plans of the government and took this 740. They ended up doing it anyway. Did meet allot of oldtimer lovers here some pictures of that day. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() What 1500 euro a year in tax?
![]() Here a 740 is like 200 euro a year. And our tax free zone is 30 years or older. |

![]() Hi just by accident stubled apon your project on google and joined this site , Just some things i think would lift your car's apperance would be if you go a ''reflexramp'' (in sweadish) that you place behind the numberplate and it got the same red color as the brake lights , and second wired from the rear position ligt to the back fog light so it glows as a position light to , and if you mount off the whole socket there is a hole where the brake light goes around the corner where you can make hole for a lamp so it act as the brake lamp to , promise it's gonna look awesome when the whole bottom glows red , and well if you wanna make the car look modern you can buy a ''addon kit'' and one last thing , in sweden we use a very common rear light thats called ''hova'' i think you would be alone with that in your country

Thank you for the writeup, i have seen that done before, they used the bulbs from a Volvo 360 numberplate to lite that thing up.. might give that a go. And about those hova's .. I got those on my 760 turbo ![]() build: http://www.turbobricks.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=120001 ![]() |

![]() Been daily driving the car ever since i got this topic started, the last few months i have been parking at my new job and apparently they dont like my car they have been hitting her with cars (scraps, broken lights etc) and also got keyed at one point.. What is up with those kind of people.
Apparently its the worse part in town to park your car but its the only place i can park because of parking permits so i'm pretty much screwed. Anyway i failed to get my track car done before this years Auto X event and decided to just take the heavy 740 and see what time i will put down. Ended up second place in my class so i'm happy. What i was less happy with that on one of the rounds my engine just started to highrev out of nothing at random points causing me to almost hit the wall at one of the laps. It did not go away but there where still 2 hours left so i decided to just keep going and i did put down better times later that day when as the track got dry. I did ended up in the wall a few laps later, a little scratch on the back of the car, nothing compaired to what people have been doing to my car during my work hours but still crappy.. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() Was driving to the gas station today high revs and all, when i saw a AA guy parked there. I got a membership with them (ANWB) but i actually never call them because i just usually fix my stuff myself.
I could not help it to ask him for advice, after 10 minutes of fiddling we found that the vacuum valve was sticky, some WD40 and moving a little and the RPMs went down. Still is a little sticky but at least i know what to degrease and make in working order.. happy ![]() Last edited by Mr.Borrie; 04-11-2014 at 02:59 AM.. |

![]() It;s the black valve (pulldown valve pierburg) on the carb that has allot of play, when i do some highway driving it fall back. I tried fixing it but there is just too much play in it. I did resolve it permanently by using ziptie (yay TB fix!) i did not notice allot of powerloss.. i guess it cannot get much slower then a B230K anyway
![]() I'll keep an eye out for a replacement valve i like things to be as much in working condition |

![]() Put the car up for sale as i bought a new DD. Gonna miss her though.
The Bilstein shocks and IPD dampers make it so much fun in the rain. Had the car a little longer then a year and knew that the tax rules would change making this car pretty expensive.. but still it hurts to sell her off .. will be missed |

![]() This is true! He used it from time to time but mostly its parked. Just read trough my whole story again.. Man this car was fun.
Trying to get the owner to turn it into a track car. He want to make his 940 LPT go faster and leaves no cash for this one ![]() |
