![]() So about 2 years ago I picked up my 1980 Volvo 262c Bertone from my boss for $300 bucks. It had been sitting in the yard for about 10 years when I got it
![]() ![]() ![]() It just so happens that a guy had done a little write up on the history of the 262c's and my car was used for his pictures http://www.curbsideclassic.com/curbs...n-translation/. Right away I started in. First I got the b21f my boss had swapped in11years prior running. It needed a head, fuel pumps/relay,fuel tank/sender and some love. Next was the suspension it got Triple C shortend adjustable coilover struts w/rsi race billies ![]() ![]() ![]() After about a year I decided to put in my b230f+t squirter from a previous project. It has a port/polish,38mm exhaust valves, ipd cam/pulley,ported 90+,ebay t3t4 w/atp ultimate wastegate housing,99 npr, greddy bov,43# injectors,4bar fpr and my ms2 spark n extra. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So about 2 months ago I decidedto get rid of that ugly ass gold paint and put in a b230ft+16v. First the interior comes out and I found this ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() Thanks. I have 2 more Bertones and I hope the are not rotten in the same place. My bertone had pieces of foam stuffed in the rear pillars and a roof trim clip touching it. Just wicked in the water.

![]() Not uncommon for Bertone's to have corrosion problems related to the roof...

![]() I got in my new bucket seats and they are way nicer than the standard Volvo buckets but not near as comfortable. I guess I will have to open them up and ad a little cushion in the lumbar area.

![]() So I have been busy and haven't had time for much. I did get one side of the roof trim water catch all welded in this week using metal from an old 240 fender but first I had to stitch the panels together because that seam is a weak point and flexes really bad and I don't want any cracks developing in the filler.

![]() The seats are summit sport buckets. Some people do not like the clear tail lights and to be honest I am not a big fan of the clear but they look sweet tinted. I will post some pics when I get home from the shop.

![]() So over the last couple of days I got futher along. I finished welding in the trim patch.
![]() ![]() With that done and out of the way I can start patching the inside pillers. First I made a cardboard template. ![]() Then I traced out a couple of patches and cut them out with an angle grinder with a cutting disc. ![]() ![]() Now for the fun. I start with tack welds on the top edge add a little heat and hammer to fit ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So all the roof rot is all patched and strenghend. This week and coming weekend I will tend to the floor rot.Even though it doesn't look that bad it is bad enough. I think this will be the hardest part since there are multiple layers of metal and rotted around the unibody frame. ![]() Oh and here is a pic of tail lights I had a buddy tint for me. I think they will look nice against bright red paint. ![]() |

![]() I started with cutting all the spot welds from the donor seat pan and well I really aggrivated ye ole quad shoulder injury and has taken several weeks to come back from that, well somewhat.
![]() So last weekend I did get half the seat pan out of the Bertone and exposed the passenger floor. This is definitely the hardest part of the resto for me. Cutting all those spot welds suck but hey no pain no gain. ![]() |
