A long time ago, I posted about 2.5" Stainless Steel exhaust systems. General consensus was that the TME systems were the best, OBX was alright (not a good 'tone'), and custom could be great or not so great depending on who did it.

A member here had a TME system for sale and was supposed to ship it to me once he had some free time. That didn't happen. Now, my 1992 940T exhaust has rotted out and I either have to change it before the cold weather happens or let it sit for another few months.

So, I wanted to again ask guys who have put 2.5" SS exhaust systems in their 740 / 940's what system they used and how happy they are with it?

I like the performance of my car, but wouldn't mind a better flowing exhaust as long as it doesn't get too loud inside during normal driving (I expect more noise when driving hard). Any suggestions?

I am looking at spending $885 (shipped) on a 3" Stainless Steel from KLRacing:

Or, looking at spending $675 (shipped) on a 2.5" Stainless Steel from OBX / Ebay:

The 3" system has two 'Super Flow' dampers, so I am thinking that it might be worth spending the extra $210 since I think that I'm going to be very happy with the sound. Of course, 3" SS makes me think it is 'future proof' as well.

The 2.5" OBX system has one review in which the guy says it didn't fit well and took a bunch of work to get it to fit.

Thanks so very much, I haven't ever dealt with Skandix. The link you gave is for a non Stainless Steel system. But, I was able to find a SS system with a bit of digging (for some reason, if I enter my cars info: 1992 940 Turbo Auto, and search for exhaust system I get (2) systems that aren't stainless nor 2.5"). Here is the system that they show is still available, 2.5", and SS:

I find it a bit worry some that the parts in the photo won't go over the axle (other systems show the correct parts). To make matters worse, they don't have any reviews.

Can I ask how you like the Simons sport exhaust on the 245 in your signature?

I haven't ever dealt with JT Tuning either, but the 3" systems they list seem nice. I watched a YouTube video in which they compare the three systems: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vMvwf64Tc4
While they don't sound bad, I think I'd go with the first system:
https://martelius.com/en/exhausts/j...vo-740-940-1-silencer-turboback-3-200cpsi-cat

Which is the quietest out of the three systems they offer. I can't understand why the first system, with the single damper, is quieter than the two other systems with two dampers. It isn't explained in the video, nor in the comments. Ultimately, it really doesn't matter which system I want because none of the turbo car systems are in stock! :wtf:

Simply put, you have opened up a few more options. Now, I'll have to see if I can find some reviews or some more videos.
Thanks again.

I can't believe it, the guy has shipped the TME exhaust! It might have taken a while, but he was a complete gentleman about everything and basically gave me the exhaust for the price of shipping!

True, it wasn't a TB'er dream of a TME exhaust for $14.99 shipped. But damn, I am so happy!

Thanks to everyone who replied.
