Default AC Knob. Will it work without the temp tube?

So I broke my Capillary tube on the AC knob. Will it still turn the AC on without that temp sensor?

I currently do not have AC and want to get it running. If the knob still works, but just won't cycle that'll be fine with me. I can manually do it while I'm fixing the rest of the system.

I think it will turn the system on. But you won't have the thermostat affect. However, if you rotate the switch to max a/c that is supposed to bypass the thermostat affect and make the a/c run without cycling.

Oh snap! Thanks for that.

I have several other things to fix first, but that will make troubleshooting easier.

I doubt that here in Texas it will ever freeze anyway. I might just buy a later style rocker switch and replace my thermostat with an on/off switch.

hook up the late style switch like cleanflametrap shows

http://cleanflametrap.com/ac.html

and then remove and connect the 2 green wires from the back of the thermostat
together and throw the tube and thermostat away
