b230FT/aw71 from 940 into 240

as in, with distributor removed, then the 940 engine will fit into 240?

You?ll need to move the distributor from the head to the block. It?s not hard. You might be able to extend the wiring for the dizzy in the 940 engine harness over to where the dizzy mounts in the block.

Probably easier to acquire a lh2.4 240 engine harness. You?ll need to make the plug for the amm longer so it reaches over to the passenger side so maybe it?s the same but different with the 240 harness versus the 940 harness.

my plan at this point would be to go to a wasted spark setup for the ignition and thus remove the distributor from the cylinder head. that gets the 940 engine into the 240 bay.

then i did intend to get a 240 lh2.4 harness which does NOT have a resistor pack = plan to run 40lb blue giants that are high impedance.

I started my weekend 940 turbo into 93 245 swap last summer. Finally limped it out of the garage about 3 weeks ago.

Due to wiring issues it turned into megasquirt and LS coils pretty quick.

A lot of your questions have answers that correlate to your skill level and what ultimately you want to do with the car.

You best bet is a lh2.4 distributor, ignitor, wiring, coil, distributor, ecu/EZK. But again, it's dependent on your skill and willingness to learn some 240 wiring diagrams and wiring capability.

Or just track down an 89+ 240

my plan is to use the ECU/EZK boxes from the 940 but with a new LH harness from a 240 (high impedance injectors). I hope I can re-use the 940 ignition harness. then go to a wasted spark setup = 940 engine will fit in 240.

also do accumulator mod on aw71 while the engine./trans is out.

got the motor/trans out. i took the distributor off and now have a nice hole to plug at the back of the head. Is there a rubber plug seal I could use or will I have to swap the head from the 240 motor?

A 240 head is the same exact head casting with a rubber plug in that bore. Get the plug for the 240 application.

Degrease the area and use some light application of RTV (gasker paste) when fitting that plug.

thanks for all the info guys.

My one final concern is the stock rear diff on the 240. Can it handle the power from the 940 engine? My goal is around 250hp. I dont think I can swap the 940 diff since the axles are different.

Dont worry about the dif. It will hold up but the 940 probably has a g80 limited slip dif in it. I would get it out and my as well pull the ring and pinion out of the 940. Also 940 probably has AW71 trans, if so, I would grab it too.
