![]() My 240T just got out of the shop for a lean cylinder. They also replaced the intake manifold gasket. After about a day, the black exhaust started, and I could smell gas in the exhaust. Now the car won't start. When it does start, the idle is really rough and stalls. I've got another idle control valve, and I'm looking for the temp sensor on the block. Anywhere else I should look? Anyone out there in the Nashville area willing to help troubleshoot? I might be able to part with some cash, food, or beer.

![]() My fifty cents in a bet has one of the intake air hoses under the intake not connected as it should be.
When this is the case air is measured by the airflow sensor plate (K-Jet) and fuel is delivered as is fitting....... With a big air leak the (pressurized) air does not all go in the cylinders and thus the engine has MUCH more fuel then is needed....... *Ding!! Black smoke. You let it cool down overnight (maybe your temper cools too......maybe not) and try to start it..... Cranks....starts......runs five seconds or so and DIES along with your faith in the repair shop...... Ugh. It starts and dies a few times cuz the cold start injector adds fuel with cranking with a COLD engine for (if memory serves) 10-15 seconds total cranking time before the thermo-time switch shuts down the cold-start to keep it from flooding. It does not continue to run due to the 'false air' leak caused by the hose that got blown off the intake....... hose that has a hole in it......... split intercooler....... You get the idea. Considering that you just had work done with the intake manifold...... I'd look there first.

![]() That was my initial guess to. I've replaced a few hoses, and I'm still tracing some of the hard to get to lines.

![]() +1 I was gonna suggest the same thing, but you can holla at me if you need to if you can't figure it out. I can't make any promises, but willing to help a fellow t-bricker. I still roll in N/A Land.

![]() I took the intake manifold back off so I could look underneath. I replaced another vacuum line (to the thermo wax valve) just on "general principle" since it was rather grimy. I'll put it back together sometime this weekend and see what what happens.
